From here the Whitman players go to Athena, where they will play the Yellow Kids two games. The next game for the local team Is to be Sunday at Athena, with the Yellow Kids also. By that time the team is expected to be strengthened materially, ns Catcher Brown will be with them. FISHERMEN SHOULD READ THIS CAREFULLLY. B. Hcrrick, Jr., Tumor, renominated. Coroner A. M. dough, of Salem. of Portland, March. 27. Judge S. A. Lowell has this interview in tho Or egonlan: "In my opinion, the delegations from Eastern Oregon will be divided into threo groups. C. A. Johns, of Baker, will have, besides his own county. Grant, Malheur and probably Harney, which will give a following of 2G votes. I should say that Mr. Furnish will have Umatilla, Union, Morrow, Crook, which will have 34 votes, and Wasco, Sherman, Wallo wa, Wheeler and presumably Gilliam, a total of 2G votes, will probably be for Governor Geer. "The leanings of the delegations in the congressional convention are not at this time clear. Baker is in doubt and will probably bo used as a trad ing county to further Mr. Johns' can didacy. As for myself, I am not ask ing for support, but I have not for gone my ambition to bo governor of Oregon. I doubt if the nomination can be made on tho first ballot or for several ballots thereafter. In addi tion to the candidates named, H. E. Ankeny, of Jackson, and Judge Fid- Wton, of Douglas, will go before the j convention, and each will have a fol lowing that, while not sufficient to elect, may aggregate enough to pro vent the nomination until some of them have been eliminated. If lht opportunity presents itself, and the delegates believe that I am tho man for the place, I should be very glad to have the nomination To Hint ex tent I am a candidate."
