It Nominations ars Steursd at Stats ion vsnllon Next Vsar. Cortland, Sept. Spe -in I corres pondence. Although eastern Oregon is demanding recngnition from the next republican state convention, it i very probable that the politicians of that section will receive the same treatment they have in the past. Thi prediction i made openly in tbi center of Oregon politics. It is conceded that eastern Oregon deserve something, but the opinion prevail that tbe delegates from east of the mountains will defeat themselves. The trouble is that eastern Oregon will enter the field with several candidate for every nomination and they will be unable to center their strength on anv one aspirant for any particular office. It will mean the same old EMEMI as in former conventions. Ratters Oregon men will join forces with tin valley people for the purpose of defeat ing their rivals. Of course, the valley delegate are not thinking of geouaphi cal position at the convention, hut are after the offices and will land them. that is. unless the men from east ol the mountains are wiser next year than they have been in tbe past. There is an excellent opportunity lor eastern Oregon to land the nomination for governor and secretary of state, ii th proper deals are made prior to tin DOB vention, is the opinion of one of the best politician in Multnomah county. Unltsd Astlon u Esssntial. Tbe foregoing from the Bail 0l goman's special correspondent II bf one who is in close touch with the controlling force in Oregon poll tin. It is exactly in agreement with w hat this oh per said on Saturday that it il a question of unity on the part of the delegates from east of the Cascade Aetata politicise in Portland and the Willamette valley recognise the force of the demand from this section for representation in the state government upon a basis of eastern Oregon's share in population and wealth ami tax paying. From this they cannot get away. It bears upon its face the stamp of just and dignified insistence that there shall be no moret axation w ithout representation. The Portland corn' pondent says truly that it is a ques tion of unification of eastern Oregon sentiment. An unbroken trout will not lie pregnable hy any column that can lie formed bv western Oregon man- ailators. And. in its last analvsi. fight centers in I'matilla count v. On who run may rad tin in the ex isting status. Wiio get the I'lnatilla enmity republican delegation net tbe nomination, is by no means far from the actual truth as believed by many well posted politicians here ami else where. F'd. I G. A. Hartman "Mentioned." Little birds bred in tbe political nest of Pendleton told a story atsiiit intention relating to democratic nom inations for governor today, that brought somewhat of iiirprise to most people, when Oeorge Hartman wa "mentioned" for the honor. There a- lieen absolutely no previous inti mation that any one from here would be brought out for the place, and the mention oi Judge Hartman' name i without hi consent. He is understood not to In a candidate, but some of his friends have proposed hi name, and say that they may insist upon the party in state convention assembled placing him at tbe bead of the ticket for the next Jane election. Ii will be a trifle of a surprise, and add to the coming fight elements of absorbing interest to all who care for tbe gume of politics.
