morning train, No. 1, wliich leaves
here shortly after 8 o'clock, and they

Among the many farmer and stock -men
in Pendleton this afternoon was
J.O. Kichardenii, who lite 20 mile
west of Pendleton, in the south Cold
spring country. He had 320 acre of
wheat in 1U0O, troin which lie secured
MoUO bushel and sold it during
harvest at 48 cents per bushel He
says he will wake it a rule to dispose
of his wheat wheu it is ready for ship
ment, rather than pay warehouse
charges and wait for a rise in the

wheat in ready for next fall. Mr.

which he ha rounded up from the

One Hundred and Seventy Special Bills

many private pension bill at a single

special pension bills were passed.
The most important was the one to
increase the pension of Gen. A. V.
Rioe from t.'tr, to $100. General Rice
was wounded several times during the
civil war and lost a leg at Vlcksburg.
He was formerly a memlier of congress
from Ohio, and was the author ot the
arrearage of the pension act.
The senate had passed a bill to in
crease his pension to n antl the
bouse raised the amount to 1100.

Seattle, Jan. 12. -The steamer Tilla
mook, from Skagwav to Seattle was
