Mrs. Crockett's lawyers, Messrs. Cnrtcr

Considerable interest has been ex

stealing fourteen steers from T. T.
(ilenn, of Summerville. Union county,
and selling them to Jack HriuliMin,

They Mated that they had had a ranch

they had disposed of the land, and
now wanted to sell the cattle. They

"Pre-natal influence" us the ex
planation of the murder of a father by
an eleven-year-old boy, as in the
Arthur Kelley case, brings out the fact
thai, daritut the time just prior to the
'birth of the lad, his mother wus com
pelled to siii. on, to ternhle indignities
by tin- father; that he heat, kicked
and cuffed her, threatened to kill her,
actually produced a weapon on one oc
casion and caused the unfortunate wo
man to believe she was alsiiit to bo
shot, and inflicted abuse such as was
even worse than that which he la
ilultfed in habitually. Those of a
scientific turn of mind who have given
attention to the cam', have a theory
that this lourseof conduct by the
brutal father caused the hoy to he horn
with an inborn fear of his father; and
that it was primarily fear rather than
hatred that moved him to commit the
murder. The fear intensified ami
eventually engendered haired and
resentment.
The Crockett Case.
The terrible imsirt of the case was
not apparent from the sccminirlv
trivial act of bringing Mrs. Cna-kclt

the court s qiicrv as to how she woiih
