Owing to the unfavorable weather the
attendance in the evening at the fair
and aim at the hall wax not as large as
it Would have been otherwise. Never
tin di ss, thi' crowd was large and en
thusiastic, and the battle of confetti
and serpentine went merrily on.
Driving Horses on Parade.
The exhibition of driving home,
single and teams, took place on Court
street at 10 o'clock Saturday forenoon.
The entries numbered IS, and they
were all handsome animals, but eoulil
not all win prizes. The judges were M.
A. Richie, of Portland; Caai Matlock,
of Heppaer ; B. T. Wade, Pendleton.

One of the features of ti e forthcom
ing carnival at The Italics, says the
Chronicle, will Is' the midway which
showed in connection with the Port
land and Pendleton strict fairs, a eon
tract having been closed today through

the management of the carnival,
whereby the proprietor of the midway
agrees to bring bis attractions here.

and was instrumental in furthering

ton. Cattle Train Wrecked.
A cattle train on the Northern Cali
fornia A Oregon going around the
curve into the the Secret Valley, 20
miles south of Ternio, was wrecked a
few days ago while en route to Heno.
Six cars loaded with cattle for the
Western Meat company rolled down the
embankment ft feet, killing '.'ft head,
and crippling many others, wrecking
the cars and tearing up the track.
