In this day and age of the rapid setting of new records in all branches of athletic endeavor it is almost expected that even that old saying should be set aside. Witness the comeback of Hel en Wills this year, which, startling as it was. is probably surpassed by the pitching of Lefty Grove. Fans have wept w ith joy when the great Grove turned back oppos ing batters one by one in the thick of a tough fray and pulled the game out of the fire when it seemed all but lost, and they have likewise gnashed their teeth in virtuous an HEADACHE? How long it w ill he until they break necks, Oieir own and those of others, remains to he seen. But. unfortunately, traffic con trol is hurdly ever provided until tragedy enforces official duty.
