ing arrangements to sent the thous­
ands of delegates and visitors that
w ill he in Grants Pass for this col­
orful program.

flags have been ordered for decora­
tion of the streets and stores of "The
Climate City” and Marshall Merrit:,
decorating chairman, is confident
his committee w ill give the town a
real convention atmosphere.

W ork w ill be commenced on
Gold Hill's new gU.IMM) high school
building next week. The plans pro­
vide for a six room brick stiucture,
built so that two rooms may be add­
ed at any time. The foundation w ill
be of concrete, uud the roofing,
lighting, heating, ventilation
and
sanitary features w ill be in accuid
with the most modern ideas in
school house construction.
No less an ambition than un ex­
hibit building, combined with a rest
and rrudmg room, to be located on
the Southern Pacific right of way,
near the depot was discussed at the
meeting of Ihe Progress club Wed­
nesday afternoon. The ladles were
enthusiastic over Ihe scheme, and
w ill not rest, nor perhaps let any­
one else icsl until they see it real­
ised.
A. E. and II. E. Newman, of Gray­
ling, Michigan, who propose to put
in a turpentine plant which w ill
consume the waste product from Ihe
Gold H ill Itailroud and Lumber
company’s mill, were here Tuesday
