CHARLES H. MARTIN Another general eleetion is History. Amt after the huge task of counting the ballots over the state, Oregon lound it hail elected a new governor, new secretary of state and a new state legislature. Charles II. M artin, democratic candidate fo r governor was lead ing his nearest rival, Peter Z im merman, independent, by a major- dy of more than 20,000 votes w ilh only a few precincts lo be report ed. Joe E. Dunne, republican, came in th ird about eight thousand votes behind Zimmerman. Snell's lead fo r secretary of state was about 40,000 votes, over Horace E. W aller, democrat. Charles A. Howard, republican superintendent of schools, C. H. Gram, republican commissioner of labor, and James W. Mott, republi can representative, a ll incumbents were successful in th e ir efforts for reelection Tuesday. A ll three state measures, the Grange power b ill, healing arts amendment and tax lim itation amendment, were defeated in Ihe stale. Voting on Ihe grange power h ill was close but the two amend ments were pretty w ell snowe* under. The products of western factories w ill go on parade throughout Ore gon the week of November 17 to 24. Plans have just been announced by Ihe Oregon .Manufacturers assoc iation fo r a statewide campaign to encourage the more extensive use of these goods w ith the idea of build ing state payroUs and increased de- nand fo r the raw materials of farm, stream, forest and mine. The campaign w ill be headed by form er Mayor, George L. Baker of Portland, who now is manager o f the Oregon Manufacturers associa tion. Through the medium of news papers, radio, magazines, w indow hsplays. mass meetings, and special sales, Ihe importance to Oregon of a concentrated support of the pro ducts of western factories w ill be driven home. The factories w ill cooperate to Ihe extent of providing the store« w ith advertising, w indow displays, and products w ith w hich to conduct special sales. It is th eir purpose to show the people of Oregon that the products of western factories are the equivalent of those of other sections and that by discrim inating in favor of them, the state is being b u ilt up tn payrolls, employment, ind general prosperity. Chambers of Commerce through out Oregon w ill hold meetings dur ing Ihe week to fu rthe r the cam paign. Speakers w ill explain the im portance of cooperation and com mittees w ill w ork w ith local mer chants in furthering the cause. “ It is not just a week of sales o f western products,” explains Manag er Baker, “ but a campaign to show our people the importance o f sup porting th eir own factories in pre ference to those o f sections doing us no good. We hope to build up the Icniand fo r western products and to make that demand permanent. By so doing, we w ill increase payrolls and w ill create a greater field fo r indus try here. This is very essential w ith completion of the Bonneville power project coming upon us.” I I'lie Gold H ill ehapler of the l'o r Commissioner Bureau of Labor I Townsend Hevolvmg Pension club Healing Art» Amendment M3 has now reached a membership of W .illicd Shliholm , Dem.
