EDITORIAL GOVERNOR MEIER NOT TO RUN FOR REELECTION In a statement issued over the radio Saturday evening Governor Julius Meier announced that he would not be a candidate for re- election to the governorship. In the same talk he told of the accom plishments made while he has ’been governor, adding “1 have served honorably and unselfishly.” He also told how “every pledge” of his platform was fulfilled. While there have been worse governors and probably Governor Meier had done as well as any oth er man could have done under the circumstances the past few years we see no reason for the Governor to break his arm trying to pat him self on the back. A headline in the daily press says “kissless Christmas for Cal ifornia town.” The place referred to is the city of Tulare, where the city council is going to enforce an old ordinance which declares mislleloe a nuisance and makes it misdemeanor for any resident to j let it grow.
