Word was received here late yesterday afternoon of the death of Bob Hayes of Phoenix, in the Portland Veteran's hospital. Mr. Hayes, who is well known Io many Gold H ill people through frequent visits here, had been removed Io the Portland hospital some time ago preparatory to being operated on for a tumor. The operation was performed Monday without suc cess. It w ill be remembered lhat Mr. Hayes underwent a serious ¡operation last winter, from which he recovered after a long confine ment to the hospital, bul doctors I state that he resumed active work too soon, and that the tumor de veloped. He is survived by his w’ife and two children. Mr. Haves was an especial friend of Arthur Gorham of this city, and the two made up the Hayes-Gorham musi cal team which has been htard over the Medford radio station quite frequently.
