This trip is the first and only southern jaunt for the Orange men this season. Practice this week was spent mainly in polishing Ihe Orange or- fense and developing the goal-line drive which Ihe learn lacked against Gonzaga last week. With some or Ihe rough edges smoothed over, the Beavers looked much smarter and finished than they did a week ago! in Portland. Lon Sliner, coach, who I ha* not been satisfied with the ' Orangemen’s progress, worked th e ! team overtime in order to strength- j en several weak points. Although the Beaver offense has ' lacked power and variety at limes J this season, Ihe defense apparently j is not causing a lot of worry. In four games this season no learn has crossed the Orange goal. The Gon zaga Bulldogs, who were by far Oregon State's toughest opponents never once had possession of the ball inside the Orange 35-yard marker. Coach Sliner, however, hope* to develop more charge In this w ill strengthen the Beaver a*- fense even more.
