That plan involved a chain of industry link ing up n saw mill from which wns to be taken the waste wood for the operation of a charcoal and wood by-products plan, to procure fuel for the furnace and oil for the float ation machines that undoubtedly would be used at the mines. The charcoal and by-products plan is still in the Olson system, but the saw mill has been abandoned as im practical to handle the situation and was credited to the Finance Comp any as one of their mistakes or ns a stock selling scheme, suit yourself. Then a quartz mill was propose«, to handle the free-milling gold ores, and this also has been abandoned as unnecessary as n uni, in the chain of industry. Then the Finance Company plan included an open hearth furnace with continuous feed down the stack, requiring careful mixture of ore or fluxing to produce results nnd this has been abandon ed as too costly on both the mine op erator and the smelter operator. In fact the problem of handling the ore in the district was the first ob stacle uncovered by Mr. Olson when he became acquainted with the re duction of ores. He ordered every thing delayed pending investigation by recognized authorities with the result that he found the entire pro cess proposed by the Finance Co., as impractical, uneconomical, and impossible of success. His investi gation is now completed and much improvement made in the system of handling the situation here..
