Condimonts, such as red popper, gingor, etc., should be fed sparingly. Onco or twico a week is ften enough, but all soft food should bo salted to tasto, as it as essential to poul try as to larger stock. Always provido plonty of clean drinking water. Rural Long Islander. Turkey Talk. Fanny Field says, in tho Ohio Fnr aaer, that lato hatched turkeys will do as woll ns early ones, if they nro hatched arly onough to got fully feathered nnd nro well fed and enrod for from tho start. 8ho Bays : "Wo onco had two broodB of turkeys omo off in September: wo didn't think they would amount to much, but wo hadn't 'spunk onough to kill thorn, so wo led nnd cared lor tnem precisely ns wo hnd tho earlier broods, nnd whon they woro ten weeks old thoy wcro full as largo as tho carlior ones woro nt their age, and wo had only lost four out of tho twenty-four. Cold woather camo on about that timo, but our little turka had such a good start thoy kept right on rowing until tho last of Fobrunry, whon thoy were dressed and sent to market. Thoy ATeragcd twelro nnd ono-hnlf poundu apiece, dressed weight, and brought twenty cents a pound. Of coureo it cost moro to grow thoao turkeys than it did to grow turkeys of tho inmo eizo in warm weather, becauso moro of tho food consumed went to keep up animal eat, but still it paid to raise thorn. Thoy wouldn't havo paid, (hough, if wo kad markotcd thorn nt Thanksgiving time. Everybody who has turkeys sends thorn to tho Thanksgiving markot, and that is tho best timo to sell tho bcBt, but it is tho poorost timo to sell small, infer ior birds. Tick ont your largost, plump- bnt the young ctock grows very rapidly and will yiold u good profit when Bold for the Itolidit.t markets in tho winter. Until the liim of marketing thoy should bo fed very much the samo m ordinary poultry! but just boforo Bonding them to market they should bo fattenod as rapidly ns possible; tho quicker it is uono tho better thoy will bo rqr tame use. And to accomplish tho best ro sultfl, it is absolutely noccssary to feed them with lattoning loou, nnd they should bo confined to siimll quarters where thoy cannot roam at largo ns thoy havo been doing up to this time. But bo careful to havo these small quar ters well cloancd nnd dry, ns clo90 con finement nnd but Iittlo excrciso will bring on diseaso if they nro not treated properly in rogard to cleanliness. They then ncod highly nutritious food for a few days, or perhaps n wcok, which will bring them out in primo condition for tablo use. Milk is excellent for fat toning quickly, and n good grain diet moistened with skim milk will do tho desired work as quickly nnd satisfactor ily as anything that can bo furnished. A Iittlo mixturo of sliced turnips or beets or nny such green food, will aid in diges tion, nnd will not only bo valuable for what nourishment they contain in thcmslvcs, but will act as an appetizer; and, niding in digestion ns they do, tho other food will bo butter nssimu !aod. If milk can bo had for tho turkeys to drink during tho last wcok, it will bo a matorin) benefit to them, nnd will not only help fnttou them, but will greatly improvo tho quality of their flesh. Steady, rapid growth is what is aimed at, nnd thoy should bo fed regularly nnd often. Tho food in tho crop digests very quickly, nnd thoy should bo fed often so that no timo will bo lost, and given an thoy will cat up cicnn. lie carcfnl not to havo any loft to sour and spoil, ns this will Boon tnko away their nppctito, nnd, of course, but little can bo done with them thon, and not until thoy go to eating again. Then in dressing them, bo careful to prepare thorn so ns to mnko n doslrnblo nnd nttrantivo anpenranco, and in this condition thoy will always command tho highest market price.
