Tho sonson has been rather too wmiu and too dry for a fortnight past to suit all intorosts, but tho wurm sun has stim ulated growths vrhcro fields woie jne parrd for it. California had goodshowois early in tho week but tho gonial inilu enco did not como this far north. If no shall soon liavo needed rains tho crops through the whole northwest will bo im mense. Thoio is satisfactory feeling generally among prodiiroro ami tho bo lief that tho countiy is on tho cvo of abundant prosperity. Tho immigration continues large and many go to noil; making homes, either Kn4 of the Cas cades, where open plains are outspread. or in tho foiv.it wgions went of thorn, where rich vulloys can be cleared of wild growth. Scandinavians and Germans are suited with tho latter region and many ure thus settling. Many scorn to como who lime little idiit of the char acter of a now country, hut n.s n rule men of good sonso can he satisfied with what they find in ono section or tho other. Thoio who huvo means can and do purchase improved lands in tho Willametto valloy. Tho fruit crop is not so unusually good as was hopod for. Some think tho previous dry summer did not fully mature tho fruit buds, but the fact is that while apples and somo Boris of pears will boat heavily cherries ivruiiot ugood yield in any locality wo have heard or read ot and plums and prunes only succeed in soma imrU. Around Tort laud stone fruits aro generally a fuiluro, where ery many aro being cultivated, As California has not a good crap it is probable that Oregon orchards, of wlmt ovor fruits, that bear well, will enrich their owners. We shall watch the situations and advise our readers of what we can learn. Tho foreign wheat market has realized no change of importance. During tho panic iu Now York grain figures went down with tho scale ot prices for other thiugs, but that will bo rocoverd. The martlet figuros aro 11.45 per cental for Valley wheat, and $1.40 for Walla Walla. OaU, for choice, 17 Jc. Hay is weaker and abundant. While hay may sell by single ba!o at $13 per ton all a farmer can depend on receit ing for good huy is 14 to $15. Totatoes hold at COc to Ooc, and tin market is sustained by shipments to the Sound. Chickens are selling at $3 per dozen Butter good Oregon dairy rolls are now plenty in tho market and sell at 18c to 25c per pound. Eggs 2U to 22 per dozen. Markets by To egrapu San Fkaxcibco, May 21.
