While no price seems established yet, we hear of a few small transitions on the basis of 81 GO per cental this week, which the buyers say they paid to fill a cargo, but is not a standard price. Rut whilo wheat re mains $1 07 to SI 70 per cental in San Francisco, it really seems as if it should be worth SI GOhorc. The wool market is vtry dull, with r,o prospect of speedy animation. Bailey The market is firmer for feed bar- snotts being anxious to fill, Juab's of No, We take the following from tho Sail Fran cisco Commercial Herald: Exports of wheat and flour are continued upon a liberal scale, as per details annexed. Pacific crop reports continue to be of the most encouraging character, at tho same time East ern advices teem to bo more cheering as to tho yield of cercalo. Tho We.tcrn States promise a largo output of coin. Present European advices are not entoulnging to giain snippers on this coast, hence it is that wo see comi.arjtively so little douo at tho Call Hoards. The daily transactions at the Giain Exchange, etc., have very little magnitude, and have no perceptible effect upon tho gen eial market loi wheat. Very feu spot sales of wheat aro icported in the daily press, for the reason that the call at the Piodme Ex chango is all ab.orbing, and vciy little heed is giver., as heietoforc, to the every day lib cral tales by sample. It is an admitted fact, however, that the largest gram exporters pie ler to buy their wheat inland, directly of the farmer, pmcli.i3ii.g tlieir entire crop, first by loaning bags or cash, and then having thu giaiii stoied at Port Costa, Vallej i or Ruiicia. In this way the grain becomes moitgaged to tho shipper, ai'd be thm is enabled to control tho tame to tome extent. Wo all know that tho fanner U ever anxious to save coinmfa sions, and if he can manage in any way to do this ho prefers to sell his wheat direct to the shipper or his agent. Thij is, in fact, tho solu tion of the whole matter, and will account ill a good degreo for the limited sales leportedof spot wheat, whilo theeveiy-day shipments go to show unmistakably that tho farmers aro selling ficeiy in a quiet way, and thus ena bling shippers to give dispatch to their ves sels. Iiirley seems to be drooping in values Tho quality of thu coast crop is almost as bright as that of tho bay counties Oats re main without change. Com is in limited re quest. Ryo of tho new crop has made its ap. pcirance, and is said to bo of inferior quality The flax crop in this Stito, as well as at the Noith, is said to bo larger than heretofore, and of good quality. Hops of the new crop have appeared, and sold at high figures. Some recent shipments of old hops havo been made to Europe. Bran is not dealt in so freely at tno u.ui iioaru as tor some weeks past. Hcaua of tho new crop havo appeared m small quantities, but theio is no life to tho mirkct. Potatoes aro in good demand for export. Butter and cheese favor the buyer under lib eral receipts. Fruit is very abundant and cheap. Plums aro almost unsalable, and there aro somo other fruits that are daily dumped. Wool is in good Btock, but the mar ket lacks" animation. Economist of August 11th gives the following account of the New York wool market : The wool market remains in about the same condition as when we last noted it. No ma terial change in anv war can be noticed. Some sales aro daily taking place, but they are somewhat forced all the time, as manu facturers will not be forced in any way. They take their time now in purchasing, and only buy when incentives are shown to engage their interest the margin of profit. Rut when the West and the East is en narrow that it hardly pays to handle wool at the piescnt range, as manfacturers will not pay 40c readily for Ohio here unless for sonn thing choice and liuht no one can see what show there is when 3Ga3Sc are tho current rates in the West. In Ohio they have been soaking with rain for a month or tno, and farmers have little time to talk wool, between showers They attend to harvesting, if that can be done; but in a few weeks, with harvest over, they will waut to close out their wool. The same may be said of New Yoik State and Wisconsin, where a very largo quantity of w ool remains in grow ers' hands yet, the margin not being enough to make it worth while to buy at the prices they demand. Sti!l, a fair quantity is coming to market m lact, more than the demand will take at present, as wo find receipts everywhere are much grevter than sales, and wool is accumulating to come extent, but the greater part is coming on consignment ac count, which, perhaps, makes stocks more conservatively held than if in dealers' hands, as sometimes is the case. Many new men are now taking a hand in wool who never bought i oeiore, anei w o nope tney may nave success in it.
