Pnuinano Springs. July 3. A destruc'ive
and fatal water-spout visited this vicinity last

breaking windows and destroying shrubbery.
Ovtr a mile of the track of the Diuver and
Rio Grande railroad was washed away, and
the wagon bridges between Alanitou and Col
orado Springs also. The loss is placed at from
$70,000 to SIOO.OOO Itis expected that the
reports to-morrow will disclose further loss of
life. '

Yaqulna Bay Honey.
It is not generally known, but it is never
thelees the fact, that honey made in this sec
tion of the State is uuexcelled by that of any
other locality, and only equaled by the fa
mous Los Angeles honey. The comb of the
honey made h.re is perfectly clear of what is
ordinarily called bee-bread, and is entirely
free from any lobelia taste and perfect'y white

mail route between Linkville and Lakeviw,
has sub-let the contract to the Kilgore broth
srs for 3,200. The first c mtract pricj was
$3,400.
Says the Jacksonville Sentinel: The la to

Marshal John Bryant and pos'e, of Colum
bus, Ky., surrounded a house near Belmont,
on the 3d, in which Kilgore, murderer of
Gardner was concealed. Kilgore rushed out
and shot the marshal, who tried to stop him,
and escaped. Bryant's injury is not neces
sarily fatal.

2 per cent, bonds would have li'tle effect on
the questions of redemption of outstanding
bonds, for the present at least. Probably he
will issue a call for $15,000,000 more of con
tinued 6 per cents. Wednesday. This will
leave hut $17,000,000 of this class of bonds
outstanding.
A special from Washington says that letters
from Mexico say theGovfrnment ha accepted
Captaid Eads' plan for 'he improvement and
enlargement of the harbor of Vera Cruz at an
estimated cost of $7,500,000. The Federal
and State Government are making arraneo
moots for the provision of funds, material,
etc.. and initial work will be commenced
immediately.
Tim amount paid for pensions on account of
the late wir to March 1st, 1882, is $500,781,
050 It is estimated there are now on the
rolls the names of 250,000 pensioners of the
late war This does not include 30,000 esti
mated service pensioners on account of the
war of 1812. Annual va'ue of the 250,000
late war pensioners, $2.00.000. or an agre
gate annual value of $30,600,000. Estimat

This troupe of genuine colored people are
in our midst, and "there's music in the air."
The harmony of negro minstrelsy is prover
bird, aud this tr upo is no exception to the
rule. The old-fashioned idea that minstrel
troupes are vulgar is done away with vow a
days. There is nothing vulgar about a first'
class minstrel show. We have seen nothing
that equalled this company since the original
J Georgia minstrels were here. The ill-timed
and stale jokes are dsne away with, and this
ehow j4 decidedly original and witty. By no
