One fact is apparent, that farmers need not fesr any reduction in price, that is if tho ac tion of speculators means anything. Wheat just ihippod eominni ds a small advance on recent figures. Any person holding good ship pine wheat now can get $1 66 por cental, if not more. Of course, w heat sold now reaches England after harvest. The matter of freights remains at 60s for wooa, ami u.-a imi lor iron, uaiiiorma quo tations for freights and wheat aro exactly with ours at Portland. Experienced men in the trade aro of opinion thatreights will re main at about 60s por tou, lor the coming eon, which they say is only a good liviug fate. Oati aro firm at 00c per bushel. Sales were made Wednesday, in San 1'rancisi-o, of good Oregon oats at $2 por cental. Tho miukot is firm at present prices. Thero is no established market yet and no sales aro re ported, but Eastern Oregon wool is classed at (torn 18 to 22 cents. Shearii g time has not generally como anywhere, and wool from Western Oregon will not be in market before the middU of June. Ainsworth, Superintendent of the River Division of the O. R. &. N. Company, that he has appointed Mr. C. S. Woodworth, of Salem, agent for the company at that place. Mr. Woodworth is an old citizen, was a pioneer of tho forties'. Died at bis residence near Oswego, Clacka mas county, Oregon, April 24, 18S2, Hon. John M. Libbcy, aged 45 years, 7 months and 21 days. Deceased was born in Newfield, York county, Maine, where the early portion of his life was spent. At the age of 21 he was united in the bonds of matrimony to the esti mable lady who has been kindly spared to share his sorrow and his joys, and to adminis ter comfort and consolation during the weeks of agoniing pain which preceded the depart ure of her beloved huiband, and to mourn with their only child, Mrs. Lizzie Walling, the untimely demise of an atlectionato com panion and an ever indulgent father. lu 1800 Mr. Libby, who had long cherished a desire to visit the Pacific Coast, came to California, where Vie engaged for a few months in the profession of teaching, after which he returned to the home of his cliildhoul; but the favorable impressions obtained by his lim ited stay in California induced him, after a brief sojourn with his friends, to make a moro extensive tour of tho extreme Westtrn States. Consequently the two succeeding years he spent in traveling, mostly in the mining portions nf California and Idaho and Oregon. At' raced by the salubrious climate and fertile soil of the latter, he decided to make this Stato his home. In 18G9 he again visited his family in Maine, Lilt soon bidding adieu to his be'ovcd mother, a brother and four listers, who still su.-vive tb mourn his los-, returned with his wile and little daughter to the cozy homo on the beautiful shore of the Tu ditan river, which ho had solectol as thiir perma nent abode, where were spent in happy con tentment the remainder ot his dajs a icprc sentativo of the poiple both in public and Erivate life.
