Tho cattlowere from two herds, one bred iu Iowa City, Iowa, by Judge B. C. Luce and Sou, and the other from the herd of Moses F.llis of Frainingham, Massachusetts. The Iowa cattle were iu good trim and condition, but those from' tho Knit wero not looking well after their rido on tho cars from their homo to tho placo of sale. There were of the Ioa herd 27 cows sold at au avcrago prico of $109, and tho average of all tho vows, heifers ami calves of both herds sold was 8 1 23. Tho bulls did not sustain as good prices as the cows. We stato theso facts fur the benefit of those who think of buying Jersey cows either for the dairy or tho family. These aro not extra prices, but they show tho appreciation and aluoof this class of stock in the liest stock market in the United States, ami they show that the prices of this class of dairy cows are not depreciating to any extent.
