who had but lately arrived with his family in
Oregon, and settled down at Albina, start d

told iu relation to tho killing of a Chinamen

the spiko driver, was without any provoca
tion attacked by tho Chinamen. Tho other
sido of tho story is, ns gleaned from the rail
road hands, white men, that Soarlcs, or

and not Searles, as reported, first threw water
on the Chinamen mid they retaliated in the
