temptations beforo them nnd less of

thoso mothers echoed her sentiments,
yet thoy had noyer thought of speak

whllo tho truth Is that boys enjoy
nlco surroundings s well as anybody.

orderly habits, nnd tho girls getting

odd corner will hold tho boys' clothes.
Order Is tho result of early education,
and boys can ncqulro this os readily
as girls If thoro Is only some encour
agement held out to them.
Mothers would savo themselves
trouble If they early provided n placo
for tho boys to put their lints and
coats, nnd tor books aud playthings,
always requiring them to keep them
iu their places. Ordor is heaven's
ilrst law, nnd if you bring up your
boy to habits of order nnd neatness,
you aro doing a kindness to him aud
laying tho foundation for happiness
In a fuluro family. Poor fences,
weedy gardens, neglected orchards,
tumblodown buildings and dirty
door yards tell of n neglect of early
training in this line.

neat bedding nnd clean sheots, and ho

his muddy boots. Ho will lenvo
them out on tho porch, and will
bathe Ills feet after coming out of the
plowed field at night or from tho
sweaty harvest field, bofore gottlng

colored blankets nro good enough for
boys and men folks to bleep in, but
while cotton is so cheap, their Is little
excuso for that way of making tyi a

and luxury of sweet, fresh bedding,

should bo used for outor covering, and

In summer wo all relish aud feel a
craving for somo thing acid. Nature
calls for it to keep tho system In
order. Salads of all kinds aro health

bo grown rapidly to bo nlco and crisp.
Watercress, onions, nnsturtlon blos
soms, cabbugo, colory, cucumbors
and tomatoes aro next In ordor as tho
season advances. Lottuco with a
dressing of vinegar, salt, poppor and
sugar Is always nice, but wo make a
dressing that wo think is oxcollont.
A cup of vinegar in a bright vessel
put on tho stovo to bent; put in n
largo spoonful of sugar, ono of buttor,
nnd salt and popper; when hot pour
Into a bowl in which is n well
beaten egg, utlr quickly nnd pour
over tho vogotablo Just boforo eating.
Another way: heat half a cup of thick
cream, thicken ti llttlo with flour or
corn-starch dissolved in a llttlo milk;
when a llttlo cool mix In tho whlto of
an egg beaten. Heat tho yolks of two
eggs with a tcaspoouful of melted
buttor, n llttlo mustard, salt and ono
of sugar; stir in a half cup of hot
vinegar. This Is particularly nlco for
cabbagoor tomatoes, nnd won't tako
as long to inako as wo aro iu telling.
Many pooplo profor ollvo oil for salads,
but wo much profor to use butter.
