Editor: The Cow Crtek Formers' Club, mot Saturday evening, March Gilt. Tho subject illscufwl wan "Will It pay to raise wlioat In Oregon, for export." The Pros! dont, Mr. Kaymond, said ho thought It would not fay to ralro wheat for export, thought that it was useless for tho farmers of Oregon to waste thoir energies aud resources In raising wlioat to send out of the country, thought that everything raised ou a farm should be fed to stock on the farm, thought formers should patronago home manufac tures and thus creato a market at home, for our produce, thought that wheat raising would impoverish tho soil, and if farmers kept on raising wheat In the way they woro doing now, a fow years longer, we would have to roiuI out of the country for bread- stuffs; thought farmers run to tho stores for everything thoy needed; could remember back forty yoars ago when a family of four loon people lived on an outlay of ?U0 dollars a year. Mr. Mynatt believed Oregon tho finest whoat growing country in the world, had ftrmod in Tumiejso aud Missouri, but thought Oregon (Ulead, far tho best; had raised uood crop last year by sowing after corn, wlthojit plowing; thought it would pay to rulso wlioat for export, ovim at 50 cents por buiihol. Mr. Kiddle thought tho question of vital importance to tho people of Oregon, because wheat was the only grain uecxnild depend upon lor export, 'thought that it had and would pay farmers to ralso whoat for export. Did not think It would pay at 50 cents per bushel but the price had nveragod rojittld erable tibovo that figure thought that Ore gon should supply tho l'aclllo coast with meats; but, that it would bo disastrous to tho commerce of Oregon to cease to raise wheat; that whiiatund wheat ulono ruvo Oregon any ludepeiidenco in commerce all othor pro ducts of Oregon woro handled In Han Fran cisco; thought farmers nhould help to build up a commercial pity In Oregon; boliovnd In raising altorimto crops of corn and wlioat lot ting sheep take the corn In II10 Held. Mr. Pern did not think It would pay to raise wheat, thought Oregon could not com pete with other conntrlo', whero labor and transportation was so much cheaper tbuu In Oregon; believed Oregon liiriiiors should turn thoir nttontlom more to wool jtrnwlng, had known firm lands Impoverished by ralhihg vhcat; believed thoro wore men horo lo-ulght Unit would heo tho day when olght bu&liil por aero would bo 11 good crop in Ore gon; thought formers should p.Uronlze homo mauufauturcs, Tho President announced thosubjoct for next meeting "Will It p.iy to provide sheltor for stock In Oregon." illght now inembnr.s woro admitted 10 tho noclely.
