The total amount of lecelptsat the gates, from licenses, and from other at the close of to-day, was sources, ?(!.-. ,... sight-seeing, or amusement. The camping tents around the grounds (of which there Is quite n number gave a picturesque and pleasant va riety to the scene. On Sunday and to-day, a consider able number of horses, cattle, sheep, and other animals arrived on tho grounds, and were promptly ttsslg.i cd to their proper places. The most noted among tho arrivals were the Short Horn cattlo of & O. Heed's, and 1). K. and 1). 0. Stewart's, uNo llolsteiiw, Dovons, Alderney.s, Ac.; aboswlno Imported by those gentle men, nlongsldo of thoso exhibited by Thomas Cross, and others, such as Essex, IJerkshtrc, Chester White, At.; nlo, Cotswold, Leicester, Span ish and American Merino sheep, and Angora goats, Ac.; all of which will be noticed more fully In a day or two, when they are properly entered on tho Society's book", when a more full and intelligible report can be obtained, Considering that it isonly tho beginning of the week, tho dis play in tho Mock department is far superior to that of any previous Fair, and members of tho Society feel highly elated at the Interest taken In the exhibition. At 8 o'clock, the business of mak ing entries began in earnest, and the clerks wero crowded, while those u ho had animals or articles to enter wero eager to be served first, and all Imaginable excuse wero framed to accomplish the desired end. As usual, tho Pavilion during the Hist day is not very attractive, tho articles fur exhibition not yet being properly arranged, and scattered around rather promiscuously, 'and the hurry anil bustle are not calcula ted to assist n person In obtaining In formation in regard to amount, kind, or excellence. Among the most noted tilings to be seen in the Pavilion is the town clock belonging to Mr. .1. II. Haas, which attracted universal attention, and was greatly appreciated, espe cially when It struck the hours on Its clear and loud-sounding gong. The aquarium that Dr. K. Y. Chase has placed in the center of the building, containing bountiful gold-fish and speckled trout, moving around in their watery palace, was continually surrounded by an admiring crowd, ami many wero tho compliment Tllinatllt).
