THROUGH OUR LENS//PHOTO VOICE PROJECT: “Through our Lens”
– Photo Voice Project serves as a tool to provide a face to house-
lessness. This project gave 10 community members, who are
currently unhoused, the opportunity to share their lived expe-
riences through photographs. The opening event will take place
from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., P:ear Art Gallery, 338 NW 6th Ave.
SATURDAY, JUNE 3
PSU ARCHAEOLOGY ROADSHOW TO HIGHLIGHT TRAVEL AND
TRADE IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST: Celebrate the Archaeology
of the Pacific Northwest at PSU’s Archaeology Roadshow, an
open air event introducing the public to local heritage and the
science of archaeology in a fun, hands-on way. The event is free
and open to the public. 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Hoffman Hall, Portland
State University, 1833 SW 11th Ave. Right next to the Portland
Saturday Market.
PORTLAND GENERAL ELECTRIC/SOLVE STARLIGHT PARADE: The
glittering illuminated nighttime parade light up downtown
Portland. Come see the twinkling lights, drill teams, marching
bands and so much more. Parade starts at 8:30 p.m. in down-
town Portland.

ALLEN TEMPLE C.M.E. CHURCH FAMILY CELEBRATE’S PASTOR’S
TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY: The church family extends a person-
al invitation to the community to join us for our Pastor’s twen-

Portland Center Stage Celebrates 10th Anniversary
Portland Center Stage at The Armory celebrated its 10th anniversary in its home at The Armory with a record-breaking fundraising gala
titled “Diamond in the Pearl.” More than 400 of the organization’s most dedicated supporters were in attendance, including many of the
people that were instrumental in helping transform The Armory into the LEED-Platinum theater facility that opened its doors in 2006
and is now visited by 150,000 people annually. The guests raised $700,650 to support Portland Center Stage at The Armory’s mission
of inspiring our community by bringing stories to life in unexpected ways. It was the most successful fundraiser, and the largest
attendance for a gala, in the company’s history.

This class is an introduction to using the internet
on computers.

Come learn smartphone basics for the beginner,
including great library apps for free e-books, stream-
ing audiobooks, music and movies! Bring your ques-
tions, your library card information and your fully

This class is an introduction to Microsoft Excel 2007

RACC awards Arts Equity Grants to
24 organizations
The Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) has
awarded $126,540 in Arts Equity Grants to 24 orga-
nizations that are advancing RACC’s goals for equi-
ty and inclusion. These grants are funded by City of
Portland’s Arts Education & Access Fund, or arts tax,
along with support from Multnomah County.
Arts Equity Grants provide financial support to
organizations that are conducting arts and culture
projects and programming for communities of color,
immigrants, refugees, underserved neighborhoods,
persons with disabilities, LGBTQ communities, peo-
ple experiencing homelessness and houselessness,
and other communities that have historically been
marginalized.
A total of 75 nonprofit organizations submitted el-
igible Letters of Interest in this cycle and 31 organi-
zations were invited to submit full applications. A
panel of RACC Board Members and community rep-
resentatives reviewed the 29 submitted applications
and recommended full or partial funding for 24 ap-
plicants, totaling $126,540. The RACC Board of Direc-
tors approved the final grant awards on May 24, 2017.
Here is a brief summary of the 24 Arts Equity
Grants awarded (*First-time RACC Grant recipient):
• Autism Society of Oregon - Art workshops for
adults on the autism spectrum. $1,250
• Cinema Project - Social justice film screenings at
correctional facility in partnership with Liberation
Literacy. $1,480
• Cymaspace - Oregon Arts & Accessibility Festival
to showcase the work of deaf and hard of hearing
artists. $6,500
• Fuse Theatre Ensemble - OUTwright Theatre Fes-
tival, celebrating the contributions of the LGBTQI+
community to the art of theatre. $5,000
• Girls Inc of the Pacific Northwest* - Five week sum-
mer documentary filmmaking program that in-
spires girls to share the stories of Portland women.
$6,500
• Hmong American Community of Oregon* - New
Year Celebration at Glenhaven Park. $6,000
