Volunteers Needed for
Donate Dinner Campaign
Nov. 23-27
Meals on Wheels People needs volunteers
for its annual Donate Dinner campaign Nov.
23 through 27. The event raises much-need-
ed funds to feed seniors in the greater metro
area.
Volunteers spend just two hours distribut-
ing Donate Dinner cards to shoppers at one
of 27 independent grocers. Volunteers are
most needed in North and Northeast Port-
land as well as close-in Southeast Portland.
More than 1,500 individuals make this one
of the largest volunteer events in Portland.

Meeting: What Are Your
Housing Needs?
The Portland Development Commission and City of Portland Parks &
Recreation’s revamp of Dawson Park kicked off last week despite a drizzle
and much mud. The special celebration included Commissioner Amanda
Fritz, Legacy Emanuel Chief Administrative Officer Lori Morgan, M.D., and
a handful of local residents. The park is slated for expanded play areas, a
splash pad for children and more. The reopening is scheduled for next
summer.
Presenters will provide inspirational
insights revealing how they moved their
project ideas into action, where they are
today and their future hopes and dreams.
This Sharing Ideas presentation features
two local projects that bring people togeth-
er from a variety of backgrounds to share
skills
and
resources:
· Repair PDX is a volunteer led group that
organizes repair cafés all over Portland,
inviting participants to bring their broken

free.
· Outgrowing Hunger is a nonprofit founded
in 2011 to create participatory opportunities
for improving the accessibility and afford-
ability
of
fresh
produce.
Refreshments will be provided. Childcare

hours advanced notice.
