the country are in great shape. There were no potholes or
ruts to speak of; so they were not that much of a test for the
Altima’s suspension. However, my test car’s ride was firm
without being harsh and the shock absorber compression
was minimal after going over one of the numerous swells in
this area.
My only quibble was the use of black piano finish in the
interior around the center stack. In effect its black plastic, it
looks good but I don’t how a scratch, especially a sizable
one will transform its appearance.
Prices start $21,500 for the four-cylinder and $25,360 for
the V6. What’s more, it would not surprise me if a number
of people switched brands to drive a new Altima.

Sealed proposals for furnishing all materials, labor and
equipment for the following described work will be
received by the City of at 214 E. 4th Street, La Center,
WA 98629 by September 4th, 2013 at 3 PM. If forward-
ed by mail, the sealed envelope containing the proposal
shall be enclosed in another envelope addressed to the
City of , , La Center, Washington 98629. Bids will not be
accepted via facsimile or electronic mail. Each proposal
shall be completely sealed in a package addressed as
required. At this time the sealed bids will be publicly
opened and read. A contract will be awarded or all bids
rejected within 45 days after the bid opening.
PROJECT NAME: OLD TOWN ROADS PROJECT II,
PW 2013-02, 2013-CDBG-1302
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Project consists of road
reconstruction on Birch Avenue from E. 5th Street to E.
6th Street, Cedar Avenue from E. 5th Street to E. 6th
Street, E. 6th Street from Birch Avenue to Cedar Avenue
and Dogwood Street from E. 6th Street to E. 7th Street.
A pervious concrete pedestrian path will be installed on
the four above mentioned blocks separated from the
road by a planter strip.
This project is financed through the Community Devel-
opment Block Grant program with funds obtained from
the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Develop-
ment. This contract will be subject to regulations of the
Department of Labor and Housing and Urban Develop-
ment. Attention is called to federal provisions for Equal
Employment Opportunities, HUD Section 3, require-
ments and the minimum wages as set forth in the con-
tract documents.

able starting August 13, 2013. There will be a $25 fee for
hardcopies of contract documents. Electronic versions
of contract documents will be e-mailed for free. A pre-bid

Technical inquiries regarding the project should be

be submitted on the regular form furnished with the spec-
ifications, and each must be accompanied by a certified
or bank check or bidder’s bond, by a bonding company
licensed to do business in the State of Washington,
made payable to the City of La Center in an amount not
less than five percent (5%) of the total bid. Work shall be
completed within 45 working days after receipt of Notice
to Proceed.
State Sales Taxes — the provisions of Section 1-07.2(1)-
Rule 171 – apply to this project. The Contractor shall
include Washington State Retail Sales Taxes in the vari-
ous unit bid prices for purchases of materials, equip-
ment, and supplies used or consumed in completing the
project.
All construction and material, unless otherwise specified,
shall be in accordance with the 2012 Standard Specifi-
cations and Standard Plans for Road, Bridge and Munic-
ipal Construction as prepared by the Washington State
Department of Transportation and as amended under
Amendments to the Standard Specifications, and the
American Public Works Association, and the City of La
Center Engineering Standards for Construction.
The CITY OF LA CENTER reserves the right to cancel
this request or reject any and all bids received or to waive
any minor formalities of this call if in the judgment of the
City Council the best interest of the City would be
served.

About 100 youth from the Boys
and Girls Clubs of Portland visited
OMSI to view the Mummies of the
World exhibit, Wednesday. The
exhibit includes more than 40
real mummies, both human and
animal.
The exhibits come from all over
the world, and include examples
from Egypt, where each mummy
was placed in a sarcophagus for
their journey to the next world, as
well as from the peat bogs of
Europe, where nature preserved
human remains as mummies.
During the last few weeks visitors
to OMSI have donated to a
school supplies drive. OMSI will
hand over the generous supply
of backpacks and other school
supplies to Boys and Girls Clubs
for distribution to children who
will benefit.

HERITAGE PARK - BOAT LAUNCH &
PARKING IMPROVEMENTS
Sealed bids will be received by the City of Camas,
Office of the Finance Department, 616 NE 4th Avenue,
Camas, Washington, 98607, until 2:00 P.M. on Tues-
day, August 27, 2013, and will then and there be pub-
licly read for the construction of the improvement.
All bid proposals shall be accompanied by a bid pro-
posal deposit in cash, certified check, cashier’s check,
or surety bond in an amount equal to five percent (5%)
of the amount of such bid proposal. Should the suc-
cessful bidder fail to enter into such contract and fur-
nish satisfactory performance bond within the time
stated in the 2012 WSDOT Standard Specifications,
the bid proposal deposit shall be forfeited to the City of
Camas.
Bid packages may be picked up in the Camas Munici-
pal Center, Community Development Department,
located at 616 NE 4th Avenue, Camas, Washington
after 9:00 a.m. on August 13, 2013. Plans and Specifi-
cations may be purchased for $75.00 plus 8.4% Sales
Tax ($81.30 including sales tax) both of which are non-
refundable. Registration as a planholder with the
City of Camas is required to obtain Contract

The improvement for which bids will be received fol-
lows:
The project includes improvements to the Heritage
Park and Boat Launch Facility in the City of Camas.
Improvements include expansion of the existing park-
ing lot, sidewalks, stormwater collection and treatment,
boat launch expansion, docks, irrigation, landscaping,
and other work. Specific items include excavation,
asphalt concrete pavement, base rock, storm pipe,
manholes, catch basins, cement concrete sidewalks,
irrigation system, landscape plantings, and other relat-
ed items.

The Work shall be physically complete within 90 Cal-
endar Days after the commencement date stated in the
Notice to Proceed. All bidding and construction is to be
performed in compliance with the Contract Provisions
and Contract Plans for this project and any addenda
issued thereto that are on file at the office of the City
Clerk, Camas Municipal Center, Camas, Washington.
This project is partially funded by the Recreation and
Conservation Office of the State of Washington.
The Contractor is obligated to pay Prevailing
Wages as determined by the Washington State
Department of Labor and Industries Prevailing
Wages, Rates for Clark County, effective August 27,
2013.
E-Verify Requirements:
Per City of Camas Ordinance No. 2626, as a condition
for the award or renewal of any contract after January
1, 2012, the Contractor shall enroll in the E-Verify pro-
gram through the United States Department of Home-
land Security and thereafter shall provide the City with
a copy of the Memorandum of Understanding (issued
by Homeland Security) in its entirety, submitted with
their bid proposal, affirming their enrollment and partic-
ipation in the program. The Contractor shall be
required to continue their participation in the program
throughout the course of their contract with the City.
Prime contractors shall require and verify that each of
their subcontractors and lower tiered subcontractors
are also enrolled and participants in the E-Verify pro-
gram. This is intended to be used exclusively for
employees hired after award and for the duration of the

Department of Homeland Security in partnership with
