COMMUNITY NEWS BRIEFS
Kids, families and community members
are invited to a free outdoor health fair on
Aug. 6, 2013 at Multnomah County’s
Northeast Health Center.
The fair, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the
Northeast Health Center, 5329 N.E. Martin
Luther King Blvd., will feature music, danc-
ing, kids’ activities, health screenings, a
local youth art exhibit and important infor-
mation about healthy living and health
insurance options.
The Multnomah County Health Depart-
ment is celebrating healthy communities by
partnering with Oregon Health & Science
University (OHSU) and the Boys and Girls
Club to host the Northeast Community
Health Fair.
Community health centers provide health
care to nearly 21 million patients nation-
wide, many of whom are living in areas
with limited access to health care. Commu-
nity clinics treat the whole patient through
culturally-competent, accessible and inte-
grated care.
Let’s Get Healthy, OHSU’s fun, interac-
tive research exhibit, will also be open
beginning at 11 a.m. inside the clinic.
The outdoor fair is also being held on
National Night Out.

them from getting resolved.
Building Conflict Competence: Thursday,
Aug. 15 Learn to understand your own con-
flict styles and responses. Examine practice
strategies such as reaching out, understand-
ing another’s perspective, expressing emo-
tions appropriately and creating solutions.
Bridging the Generational Gap: Thursday,
Aug. 22 Learn the common traits unique to
each generation and participate in an open
dialogue with people of other generations.
Participants will practice conflict manage-
ment skills that enhance communication
skills.
Tsipora Dimant, program coordinator for
the DRC, will lead the workshops. Dimant
has more than 20 years’ experience mediat-
ing business, workplace, family, and neigh-
borhood conflicts. Dimant is also a teacher
and trainer in the area of conflict manage-
ment.
