Portland Barefoot 3v3 Soccer Tournament
and Festival for Grassroots Soccer is Sun-
day, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the
Concordia University Soccer Stadium at
Northeast Liberty and 29th Avenues in Port-
land.
Grassroots Soccer is an HIV prevention
program that uses the power of soccer to
educate, inspire and mobilize communities
to stop the spread of HIV. Over 550,000
adolescents and teens have already graduat-
ed from the program in 16 African coun-
tries.
At the Portland event, matches will be
played to the beat of live African drums and
music.
There will be over 100 youth teams play-
ing from throughout the Metro area, and
1,000 people in attendance.
There will be special appearances by the
Portland Timbers and Thorns along with
Grassroots Soccer Staff/Coaches. Players,
parents and fans are also invited to take part
in the soccer carnival and win cool prizes.

Wells Fargo is sponsoring a free lecture 7-
9 p.m. at University of Portland on Wednes-
day, June 12, by African American historian
Hari Jones, assistant director and curator of
the African American Civil War Freedom
Foundation and Museum in Washington,
D.C.
Jones will speak about the Emancipation
Proclamation and Juneteenth, at Buckley
Auditorium, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd. To

Bring Your Dogs to CRESA’s
‘Bark For Life’ on June 15
Team CRESA (Clark Regional Emer-
gency Services) holds the dog friendly, fun-
filled event, to raise funds for the American
Cancer Society.
The “Bark for Life of Clark County” is a
non-competitive one-mile dog walk Satur-
day, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at
Pacific Community Park, 1515 NE 164th
Ave., Vancouver. All proceeds go to the
American Cancer Society.
The first 100 dogs registered for the walk
receive a Bark for Life bandana. Register
one dog for a $20 donation or 2 dogs for
$30. Register your dogs at www.clark-

West is calling all walkers to experience the Rose
Parade from a uniquely different vantage point
on the parade route. The Grand Floral Walk will
trace the parade route through downtown
