azz legend Thara Memory brought young musicians from the American Music Pro-
gram to a benefit May 18 for King School. The school has the “highest year-to-year
academic growth of any PreK-8 in the district this year. It is now listed as a top-tier
school in the area of academic growth, exceeding both state and district averages in read-
ing and math overall.”
Art was on the table at the Law and Disorder Conference, Saturday, May 11,
at Portland State University. This workshop was “Screen Printing for Social
Change,” taught by Rio Safari, printer, zinester and member of Counteract
Collective. The well-organized and attended event incuded a wide variety
of workshops on legal issues, political activism and community organizing.
