FamilyCare Seeks Individuals for their
Community Advisory Council
Food Bank Honored
FamilyCare, Inc., is currently seeking community advisory council members aged 16
years and older. The purpose of the CAC is to bring in the voice of the consumer to
help improve the experience and delivery of healthcare services in the community. The
CAC needs people who represent diverse views, perspectives and experiences and are
interested working toward improving healthcare. To apply or to get more information,

Now is the time to register for summer swim lessons at Portland Parks & Recreation
pools. The Portland Parks & Recreation Aquatics Department offers swim lessons for
all ages and skill levels.
Registering on-line is a good way to beat the last-minute rush. Advance online reg-
istration is underway. Go to www.PortlandParks.org, click on the Activities Tab and
select “Registration”. You can also register by mail or by phone. Please call (503)
823-5130 to have a summer program guide and lesson registration form mailed to you.
Walk-in registration begins Saturday, June 15, from 8am-11:30am, at your neighbor-
hood pool. All of Portland Parks & Recreation outdoor pools open on Tuesday, June
18.
Financial Empowerment Clinic Saturday
Join Innovative Changes on April 20 for a free day of workshops on debt and credit
building, access community resources and get the chance to meet with a financial plan-
ner
Saturday, April 20 in Suite 2010 of the Lloyd Center Mall from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Innovative Changes exists to help low-income individuals and families, and those
who otherwise lack adequate access to capital and/or financial services, manage short-
term financial needs in order to achieve and maintain household stability.

Oregon Food Bank earned the 2013 Innovation Award in food banking at the
annual Feeding America Network Executive Directors’ Forum this week in
Nashville. The Food Bank was honored for its FEAST (Food, Education, Agriculture,
Solutions, Together) program, an initiative that helps to create a “big tent”
approach to food banking by empowering community members to build
healthier, more equitable and more resilient food systems through a community
organizing model.
