Chapter Anniversary
Pflag Portland Black Chapter Presents its
2013 Anniversary Celebration, Sunday, Feb.
24, at Curious Comedy Theater, 5225 NE
Martin Luther King Blvd., starting at 5:30
p.m.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the
door, and admission includes buffet and
program, cash bar available for 21 and over.
This is an all ages event and wheel chair
accessible.

first African American Chapter in the
Nation and one of only two in the entire
country, promoting the health and well-
being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and

Memoirs of the Black
Panther Party
On Thursday, Feb. 21, Aaron Dixon, the
co-founder of the Seattle chapter of the
Black Panther Party, speaks at two events in
Portland: at Portland Community College’s
Cascade Campus at 4 p.m. in the Student
Center; at Portland State University’s Smith
Memorial Center in Room 298 at 7 p.m.
Dixon’s memoir, “My People Are Rising:
Memoir of a Black Panther Party Captain,”
chronicles the courage and unforgettable
legacy of a generation’s struggle for justice

Miss Teen Portland
Edu2tor Launches
Drop-In Tutoring Center
in Northeast Portland
Locally founded EDu2tor, a provider of
tutoring and testing prep services is
announcing the opening of a new learning
center in Northeast Portland.
EDu2tor began providing services to stu-
dents throughout Portland in June 2012 and
will expand their services to include a drop-
in tutoring center available to students on
weekends.
The services will be located the
North/Northeast Business Associations’
new Kings’ Business and Cultural Center
located at 311 N Ivy St.
EDu2tor will begin offering tutoring ses-
sions starting March 2, 2013. The staff is
available to tutor students in various grades
level and subject areas, as well as prepara-
tion courses for the SAT and ACT. Students
can receive tutoring starting at $18 for an
hour and half on weekends and schedule
individual tutoring through appointments.
The company hopes to offer more tutor-
ing services for students and families
through their weekend drop-in sessions and
hopes families will come visit the location.
