Friends of Museum Journey to Court of Moghuls
Officers, Members Chosen
For Board of Governors

Mrs. E. Charles Pressman was re-elected chairman of the
Board of Governors of Friends of the Museum at the fifth
annual dinner meeting Tuesday at Erb Memorial Union Bldg
Robert Wilmsen was named vice chairman; Richard Wil
liams, treasurer; Mrs. Paul R. Walsh, secretary.
New members of the Board of Governors are: Wayne At
wood, Ralph Cobb, Mrs. Lloyd Cummings, Mrs. R. A. Kronen
berg, Mrs. Roy Lieuallen, Mrs. Keith McGillivarv, Kenneth
H. O'Neil, Mrs. Gordon Thomas, Hale Thompson, William W.
Wilson, all of Eugene; Mrs. Pals Hansen, Coos Bay; Mrs.
George Lenci and Mrs. Fred Sohn, Roseburg; Mrs. Harold F.
Wendel, Portland; David Duniway, Salem.
Continuing members are Lister E. Anderson, Wallace S.
Baldinger, Mark Clarke, Ehrman Giustina, Walter Creese, Mrs.
Henry Hall, James Longwood, Mrs. Josephine Moore, Mrs.

Nearly 350 members of the "Friends" and their guests
gathered in the candlelit Erb ballroom for the "Feast of the
Moghuls" which featured a menu of authentic Indian dishes.
Seven University of Oregon students from the Far Eost,
dressed in their native costumes of India, greeted the guests.
The internationally known dancers from India, Sujala and
Asoka, presented a colorful program portraying the art of
dance in India through the centuries. Dinner guests had an
opportunity to meet the husband-and-wife at a reception which
followed at the Museum of Art. ,
Mrs. Lilly Jacob of Kotayam, India, wife of University of Oregon
graduate student, and Meenakshi Varma, Hindu student from
Jaipur, India, study 19th Century painting on cloth from Nepal

Mrs. E. Charles Pressman, chairman of board of governors of
Friends of the Museum, and Robert Wilmsen, vice chairman,

Other philanthropic work
was reported as follows: 7.285
hours contributed by members
making 6.690 hospital articles
for the Shriner's Hospital for
Crippled Children, Doernbccher
Children's Hospital, Alhertina
Kerr Nursery, and McKenzie
Willamette Hospital at Spring
field; 9.064 hours in working
at Red Cross centers, preparing
and delivering welfare baskets,
assisting in hospitals, nursing
homes, and charitable civic
fund raising projects.
A total of 410 voting dele
gates were present representing
the 32 subordinate courts in
Oregon plus approximately 600
members and visitors from
other jurisdictions. Represent
ing the supreme council was

Purpose of ABWA is to ad
vance the interests ot women
in business by advancing em
ployer - employee relations
through understanding and con-
tinuing education of its mem
bers. Dinner meetings are held
monthly with outstanding busi
ness and professional men and
women as speakers.
Each of the Eugene chapters
joins with the national program
of providing a scholarship an
nually for a deserving girl,
cither graduating from high
school and planning to obtain
advanced education or already
enrolled in an institution of
higher learning and needing fi
nancial assistance. Mora than
$40,000 in scholarships were
granted last year by the various
chapters. 1
National headquarters for the
Association is located in Kansas
City, Mo., where the first
chapter was chartered in 1949.
National convention will be
held this year in Cleveland,
Ohio.
