Almond Stuffing Fills Turkey

Eugene Garden Club Schedules Annual Holiday Home Tour
Holiday-lime Is eating time,
and your holiday eating will be
ever so pleaiureable if you ituf
the turkey or chicken with
"Holiday Almond Stuffing."
Convenience foods such as
seasoned stuffing mix, instant
minced onion and almonda al
ready roasted and diced take
practically U of the labor out
at preparing this tally orange
flavored stuffing,
In addition to roasted diced
almonds, toasted slivered al
monds and unblanched whole
almonds are now packed in at
tractive cans. Smokehouse
cocktail almonds, surefire hits
at any holiday party, are also
found these days in tins.
If you wish to smoke your
own almonds, combine i tea
spoon liquid smoke and 2 tea
spoons water, then toss with 1
cup unblanched whole almonds.
Cover and let stand overnight.
Boast in flat pan in 300-de-grce
(slow) oven 20 to 25 min
utes or until lightly browned,
stirring often. Sprinkle with
salt.
Holiday Almond Stuffing
1 cup roasted diced
almonds
1H cups thinly-sliced celery
H cup finely-chopped
celery leavea
3 quarts seasoned stuffing
mix
3 tablespoons instant
minced onion
1 teaspoon salt
2 large oranges, pared,
sectioned and diced
1 cup chicken broth or
giblet stock
1 tablespoons lemon juice
Vi cup melted butter or
margarine
Toss together in large
bowl, all ingredients except
broth, lemon juice and butter.
Heat broth; itir in lemon juice
and butter. Drizzle over stuffing
mixture and toss to mix
thoroughly. Pack lightly into
turkey.
Makes 4 quarts stuffing
enough for 16 Ib.-turkey).

tour of holiday-decorated homes

The tour will be from 2 p.m.
to S p.m. both days and the
bazaar from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tickets for the tour may be
purchased at the Garden Club,
1645 High St. where the bazaar
and tea will be served.
Mrs. O. R. Lessei is chairman
for the lea which will climax
(he tour. Mrs. D. C. Warner,
Mrs. Carl Gregg, and Mrs. L.
tea table and also a number of
decorate the Bond home in a
traditional manner.

her committee, Mrs. Hog Samp
son, Mrs. Lyle Ssgcha and Mrs.

wilt use a contemporary decor.
