DEAR ABBY: There is a girl in our dorm who Is knockout
to look at. She hat a face and figure every girl envies and she
has a great personality to go with IL Our problem Is that she
must be afraid of men. She is asked for dates, but if a boy
even tries to put his arm around her she hauls off and just
about fractures his skull. They say that it Is liko pulling teeth
to get her to go out a second timo with a fellow who is even
mildly affectionate. How can we help her?
DORM MATES
DEAR DORM MATES: Fix her up with a dental studentl
DEAR ABBY: I have been married for nine years. I mar
ried young just to get out of the house. I was completely hon
est with my husband and told him before he married me that
I didn't love him. He said he would take that chance and I
would learn to love him later.
We have five beautiful children. I respect him and admire
him and am proud to be his wife because he is a kind and gen
erous man and a wonderful father, hut I still have not learned
to love him. I am a good and faithful wife, but I know now that
1 will never have the kind of love every woman dreams of.
(Not within my marriage at least.) Should I continue in this
loveless marriage? 1 am thinking of mv children.
MISSING SOMETHING
DEAR MISSING: Keep thinking of those children. Many
women have written to tell me that they married for "love"
(the kind every woman dreams of) but it didn't last long. The
reasons: they neither admired nor respected their husbands.
If yours Is kind, generous and a nnndrrful father, count your
blessings. No one has everything!
.
DEAR ABBY: Would it be proper fur a mother to go down
the aisle with her only daughter and give her aay ill mar
riacc? She has no brothers or uncles to give her nway, and
her father hasn't done a blooming thins tr her since she was
born. To be linncM with you, he took off years ago. I don'l
know where he is and I nm nut shout to hunt him up. Thank
you. WIDOW OK A LlVI.Vi LOl'SE
"EAR WIDOW: Talk to your clrrgnun about the "giving
away" part of the cerrmony in your church. Not all cere
monies include II. And in some, it Is perfectly permissible for
a mother to go down the aisle with her daughter. Or the bride
may go down alone.
Stop worrying. Let Abby help you with that problem. For a
personal reply, enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
