Many Girls Tell Secret of Engagement and Wedding Plans
Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Coen of
Eugene announce the engage
ment and approaching marriage
of their daughter, Barbara June,
to 1st Lt. Lloyd D. Young o
Mannheim, Germany, son of Mrs.
Minnie L. Young of Guston, Ky.
The couple plans to be married
early in March, in the eastern
United States.
Miss Coen has been abroad for
more than two years, visiting
many countries of Europe. She
has been Special Service program
director at the Flaming Sword
Service Club in Heidelberg, Ger
many, but will . terminate this
position this month. She is a
graduate of University of Oregon.
Lt. Young, who was graduated
from Western Kentucky State
College, will attend the field ar
tillery associate officers' course
at Ft. Sill, Okla., beginning in
March. He has been serving with
the 67th Artillery in Mannheim.
Following Army service, Lt.
Young plans to complete his law
course at Tylane University in
Louisiana.
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Carley of
Eugene announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Margaret
Eea, to Thomas C. Gunn Jr., son
of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C, Gunn
of Newark, Calif.
Both Miss Carley and Mr.
Gunn are at Stanford Research
Institute in Menlo Park, Calif.,
she as research assistant and he
as associate editor of the research
publication.
Miss Carley attended Colorado
College at Colorado Springs and
received her bachelor of science
degree in chemistry and business
at San Francisco State College.
Mr, Gunn received his bachelor
of science in chemical engineer
ing and his master's degree in
business administration at Stan
ford University.
The wedding date has not been
set.
Mr. and Mrs. Osar Satrum of
Molalla announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Sharon
to Gordon T. Olsen Jr., son of
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon T. Olsen of
Eugene.
The betrothal was revealed at
the annual Valentine dinner at
Northwest Nazarene College in
Nampa, Idaho, where both young
people are studying. An August
wedding date is planned.
Both Miss Satrum and Mr. 01
ten are juniors, she majoring in

stration. Mr. Olsen Is a graduate
of South Eugene High School.
Mr. and Mrs. William J. Hahn
of Cashmere, Wash., announce
the engagement of their daugh
ter, Janice Irene, to Leonard Tir
rill, son of Leo V. Tirrill of Lew-
lston, Idaho, and Mrs. Vernon E.
Ricks of Oakridge.
Both young people were gradu
ated from Oakridge High School
and now are attending Linfield
College in McMinnville. No data
has been set for the wedding.
Mrs. Irene Marquette of Rose
mead, Calif., announces the en
gagement of her daughter, Jean
nie, to Wilbur Brown, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Kenneth Brown of Eu
gene. A summer wedding is
planned.
Miss Marquette, who is the
daughter also of the late Mr.
Marquette, was graduated from
Rosemead High School and at
tended Pasadena College for
three years. She is now engaged
in hospital work.
Mr. Brown, a graduate of South
Eugene High School, now Is em
ployed by Junction City Transfer

Campus Couple Exchanges Vows

Central Presbyterian Church
was decorated with white stock,
carnations and tulips and candel
abra for the marriage of Miss
Patricia Shackelford to Howard
E. Will Jr., Feb. 12. The Rev.
George Ashwood performed the
double-ring ceremony at 7 p.m.
Miss Shackelford is the daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Shackel
ford of Yuba City, Calif., and
Mr. Will is the son of Mr. and
Mr, Howard E. Will of Phila
delphia. Both families came to
Eugene for the wedding.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her father, wore a
bajlerina-length gown of white
lace and organza over taffeta, The
gown was fashioned with a v-neck
on the lace bodice. Her shoulder
veil was held by a crown of seed
pearls and she wore her mother's
pearl necklace. She carried a
white orchid surrounded with
stephanotia on a white Bible.
Miss Patricia Gail Patchett,
main of nonor, wore a princess
style gown of light blue crys-
taline. Her flowers were a cas
cade of white carnations and red
garnett roses,
Don Gottesman was best man,
Robert L. Napier and Ernest Dra-
pela were ushers.
Miss Jerrie Ann Wilson, soror
ity sister of the bride, sang "The
Lord's Prayer," "Wedding Pray
er" and "Why Do I Love You."
A reception was held at the
Alpha Omlcron Pi sorority on the
University of Oregon campus.
Mrs. Hugh Byfield of Yuba City,
Calif., the bride s aunt, cut the
cake, assisted by Mrs. Robert
Napier. Miss Jane Horning and
Judy Williamson served coffee
and punch. Miss Sandra Robin
son was (n charge of the guest
book and Miss Judy Richards
greeted guests at the door.
For their wedding trip to the
coast the bride wore a green
wool suit with black accessories.
The couple now is at home in
Eugene at 1163 W. 11th Ave. Mr.
Will Is a graduate student and
counselor at Sheldon Hall at the
university and Mrs. Will will
complete work for her degree in
June.
Thev will spend the summer at
Presidential Lakes, N.J., and will
return to teaching positions in
Southern California in September.

Miss Paula Phillips, to Joseph
Orosz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Istvan
Orosz of Hungary.
Miss Phillips, who also Is the
daughter of the late Carl L. Phil
lips, is a graduate of Ashland
High School and now is a senior
student nurse at Sacred Heart
Hospital school of nursing.
Mr. Orosz attended school in
Hungary and now is employed in
Eugene. He makes his home here
with his foster parents, the Rev.
and Mrs. Roy R. Finch.
An April wedding is planned.
Mr. and Mrs, Byron Waite of
Eugene and Blackwell, Okla., an
nounce the engagement of their
daughter, Mariana, to Thomas
Wallrabenstein, son of Mr. and
Mrs. E. Wallrabenstein of La-
Mesa, Calif.
Miss Waite was graduated from
Eugene High School and is a stu
dent at Southwestern College,
Winfield, Kan., where she will
complete her work in home eco
nomics In May.
Mr. Wallrabenstein was grad
uated from Southwestern College
in 1959 and now is a student at
Southern California School of
Theology at Claremont.
The wedding will take place in

Clarence F. Sunkler of Creswell

their daughter, Carolyn, to Her
bert L. Reiff of Los Angeles. He
is the son of Galen E. Reiff and

Miss Sunkler, a graduate of

Darlene, to Merle Eakin, son of
