The Very Little Theater's laugh-
filled production of "My Three
Angels" opened Wednesday night
for a run which will continue
through May 1, except for Mon
day and Tuesday nights.

Critically Hurt
A 16-year-old girl was critical
ly injured Wednesday afternoon
when she was thrown from a car
and struck her head on a curbing
after a collision at the intersec
tion of 11th and Mill Sts.
," Taken to Sacred Heart Hospital
with fractures of the skull and
pelvis was Patricia Smith, a Leb
anon High School student. She
was unconscious for several hours
after the accident and remained
in poor condition Thursday.
The injured girl was a pas
senger in a car driven by Mrs.
Grace A. Burns, 62, also of Leb
anon. Mrs. Burns and another
passenger Betty Nightingale. 16,
suffered minor bruises,
were not hospitalized.
.- Mrs. Burns' car collided with a
car driven by Charles C. Chap
man. 20, of 1789 Columbia St.,
Eugene. Chapman, who' was alone
in his car, was not injured.
Police said Mrs. Burns, driv.
Jng north on Mills St., failed to
notice the stop sign at 11th Ave.
She was cited on a charge of
top sign violation.
The impact of the crash spun
the Burns car around in the in
tersection. All three occupants
fell out when tho door on the
fight side of the car flew open.
Tho car came to a stop partly
on top of the Smith girl, who was
the first to fall out. Bystanders
lifted the car off the injured girl
and called an ambulance. The
accident occurred about 3:15 p.m.

For SP Rally
All was in readiness Thursday
for the big rally at Eugene High
School Friday night to honor L.
P. Hopkins, retiring superinten
dent of the Portland Division,
Southern Pacific Co.
The rally will be in the audi
torium of the high school, start
ing at 8 p.m. It is open to the
public and there is no admission
charge.
Hopkins plans .to retire on July
1, after 48 years of railroading.
He is being honored by fellow
employes and other Eugene area
citizens.

Tires Stolen
Theft of five tires valued at a
total of about $70 was reported
to Eugene police Wednesday by
employes of the Olscn Auto
Wrecking Co., 2040 W. 6th Ave.
Police said the building had been
entered during the preceding
night by thieves who pried a ply
wood panel off a door.
Daylight Time
Begins Sunday
PORTLAND tm Daylight sav
ing time arrives in many parts of
the United States early Sunday
morning. It will make some
changes in Oregon where stand
ard time is mandatory.
Portland television stations will
present their shows on a sched
ule adjusted to the fast time.
Most Portland radio stations will
tape network shows and rebroad-
cast them at the regular time
but some changes may be made
in this.
Some airlines expect to operate
on daylight time. Railroads and
buses will continue on standard
time. - j
Oregon's agriculture, lumber,
fishing, hunting, wildlife, water,
soils and minerals. '
"In its broadest sense, conser
vation can be summed up
meaning to use without using up
or to use wisely," Allen and John
son said, "and Conservation as a
way of life must be embraced by
everyone if we are to continue to

ard of living."
