M. Butler's vow to give the state
executives "more importance in
the party structure."
Butler has announced he invit
ed the governors to discuss plans
for the 1956 campaign with na
tional' committee officials and
party leaders in Congress.
Two of those invited bolted the
national ticket in 1952 to support
Dwight D. Eisenhower for presi
dent. They arc Allan Shivers of
Texas and Robert F. Kcnnon of;
Louisiana. Kennon recently
voiced opposition to Democratic
renomination of Adlai E. Stevenson.
