"Competition is the life of trade"
Competition results in
better customer service
In America, the spirit of competition has always encouraged industry to
deliver more and better products at lower prices. Beyond that, competition
also prompts high standards of salesmanship, merchandising and customer
service. Where product quality and price are equally satisfactory, the cus
tomer usually chooses the supplier who offers the best service.
Today, the forest industry is selling its products in competition with
many other building materials. As our national economy becomes more
stabilized, this competition for the building dollar is increasing. To success
fully compete in today's market, our industry must do a better job of selling
wood than ever before. Furthermore, we must continue to deliver high
quality products and give good service to customers.
Since the forest products industry is a vital part of the economy of the
Pacific Northwest, it is important that the sale of lumber, pulp and plywood
continue at a high level. It is this company's aim to do everything possible
to develop and maintain its share of this market. Successful competition by
the entire industry means steady payrolls, community stability and a
reliable source of taxes for schools and other government services.

Versatile wood brings modern charm to any room
Architects, designers and decorators are using wood's versatility to advantage in creating
rooms of exceptional charm, beauty and practicality in today's homes ... old and new. What
ever the plan, or type of construction, there is a wood which is both economical to buy and
easy to install. Wood can be finished in so many different ways that decoration is never a prob
lem. Also, it is easy to chango the decorative theme at any time. In today's highly competitive
market, such advantages of wood must continually be pointed out to prospective buyers if it is
to hold its share of the building materials market. Remember, wood must compete with them all...
hick, concrete, aluminum, glass, plastic, compositions and steel.
