from the big Pacific Fruit and
Produce plant here briefly Fri

But AFL Teamsters pickets
were withdrawn three hours after
they had appeared at the plant,
and 25 trucks left to supply about
1,200 Western Oregon and South
western Washington merchants.
AFL warehousemen who had re
fused to pass the picket line re
turned to their jobs inside.
Clyde Crosby, Teamster s'
spokesman, said the dispute was
over wages, hours and working
conditions. There was no an
nouncement of whether the dis
pute was settled.
A brief strike of teamsters and
warehousemen at the plant one
week ago was the result of the
discharge of an employe, the two
unions said.

Freight, Mail
Trains Collide

Two trainmen were killed in the
head-on collision of a Denver &
Rio Grande Western mail train
and a freight six miles north of
here early Friday.
Witnesses said the 112 - car
freight train, pulling a 7,000-ton
load, apparently was unable to
stop and ran through a switch.
The engineers of both trains
were killed. They were rrea
Kecley, on the mail train locomo
tive, and Glenn Arnspigcr, aboard
the freight. Both were from Grand
Junction.
Firemen of both trains were
injured, but there were no inju
ries to passengers on the west
bound mail train.
