She is one of five persons from
throughout the state who will sum
mit to the delegates at the group's
state convention the names of can
didates for next year's state PTA
ofirers. The convention will be
held in Med ford in April. j
The state PTA board also en
dorsed educational TV for Oregon;
the new State Board of Higher
Education plan for combined ele-j
mentary and secondary teacher
training at five state educational;
institutions; an increase in feder
al aid for school lunch programs;
and safety legislation relating to
school busses.
The board was also told that the
Medford convention will include
"workshops," many of them ofj
two-hour duration; a "regional din
ner" and Mothersingers concert;
an informal installation; and a
"coffee klatch,"

Three Eugene Boys
Held in California
Three Eugene juveniles John
Gunderson, Kenneth Brown and
Norman Haas are being held by
the Lassen County, Calif., sheriff,
on charges of burglary, according
to state police at Eugene.
The boys were driving a car
taken from E. A. Mock and Sons
used car lot in Eugene when ar
rested, state police reported.
The matter has been turned over
to the Lane County Juvenile of
fice. I

ities in the University of Oregon.
Phi Kappa Psi had the biggest
pledge class with 19 men. Beta The
ta Pi pledged 16 men and Phi Derta
Theta and Sigma Chi each pledged
15 men for the third biggest pledge
lists.

Balph Fullerton was appointed
to the Springfield School District
19 budget committee this week to
fill one of two vacant posilions. Re
placements were needed for E. V.
Howells, whose term expired last
year, and for J. W. Michael, who
died last year. Howells will be
contacted to sec if he will serve
again. Last week, Lester Hufstad
er was reappointed to fill his own
expired term on the budget committee.

Also in the 1920's Mendelsohn
designed new stores for Ihe Schoc
ken Department store chain, which
are considered to be among his
best work for that period. He had
received an architecture degree
in 1912 in Munich. Germany.
In the early 1930's he went to
books and articles on modern archi
tecture.
