Miss Betsy Erb
Betrothed
News of the engagement o
Miss Betsy Erb to Frank W. Bliss
Jr. was revealed at the Gamma
Phi Beta house Thursday evening
at dinner. Miss Erb, a senior at
the University of Oregon this
year, is the daughter of Mrs.
Donald M. Erb.
Mr. Bliss is a member of the
English department faculty on
the University of Oregon campus.
A graduate of Emory University
at Atlanta, Ga., he lias his Mas
ter's degree from the University
of Minnesota. He is the son of
Mrs. Frank W. Bliss of Orlando,
Fla.
The wedding will take place
next year.
The engagement of Miss Gayle
Lynne Abbott, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. W. J. Abbott, to Max
Andrew Ingcrson, was announced
Thursday evening at her sorority,
Alpha Gamma Delta. Mr. Inger
son is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Ingerson of LaGrande,
Earlier, Mr. and Mrs. Abbott
announced the engagement at an
informal party at the home of
Sandra Schmidt the latter part
of August.
Invitations to the party were
legal summons in miniature is
sued by the Plaintiff Gayle Ab
bott. Refreshments were served
to about 20 guests.
Both Miss Abbott and Mr. In
gerson attend the University of
Oregon. He is enrolled in the law
school and is affiliated with Phi
Kappa Psi fraternity. No wedding
date has been set.
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin J. Laemmle
announce the engagement of their,
daughter, Charlotte, to Jack Cady,
son of Mr. and Mrs. King Cady of
Newburg. Miss Laemmle was
graduated from St. Mary's High
School and is presently employed
as a buyer for child's wear at
Miller's. Mr. Cady is a Newburg
High School graduate and is a
senior majoring in advertising at
the University of Oregon. Tenta
tive date for the wedding is next
June.
Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Mitchell of
Springfield announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Joyce
Dalene, to Richard L. Head of
Eugene, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle
T. Head of Oakridge. The wed
ding is planned for an early date.
Since graduation from Lorane
High .School in 1950, Miss Mitch
ell attended University of Ore
gon for a time and has been em
ployed in the office at Orchard
Auto Parts for the past 18 months.
Mr. Head was graduated from
Roosevelt High School, Portland,
served in the U. S. Air Force and
later with the Air Force Re
serves. He now is employed at
Associated Plywood.

Junior Service League Makes
Plans for November Event
First major project of Junior
Service League of Eugene will be
an old time 'Country Store" from
Nov. 19 to 21 at the Eugene Ar
mory. Plans for the event were
laid at the recent first fall meet
ing of the league at the home of
Mrs. Lester Ready. Members of
the new board were, assisting host
esses. Now in its second year of com
munity service, Junior Service
League will be headed by Mrs.
Ready as president; Mrs. John
Jaqua, vice president; Mrs. Rob
ert Curtis, secretary and Mrs.
Edmund DeKeater, treasurer.
The program for the current
year was outlined and the presi
dent announced the following
committee appointments: Pro
jects, Mrs. George Schweiger,

Eugene during a three-day visit
here, Monday through Wednesday.
She is former newspaper columnist
well known here, and author of new
book, "The Lady and the Lumber
jack," made in advance with the hotel.
Mrs. Barber will talk about her
book, "The Lady and the Lumber
jack," film rights lo which were,
purchased in the past week by
Twentieth Century Fox studio.
"The Lady" is in its third print
ing, although released only Sept.
15.
Tuesday noon, the wriler will
be honored by her own service
club, Soroplimists, at luncheon in
the Eugene Hold. Later in the
day there will be an autograph
party for her at a local book store.
She will be featured in interviews
