Eugene Girls Head Sororities
ALPHA nit left: Mhs Mary Alice Baker, president, Is
daughter of Dr. anil Mrs. L. L. Baker, 1209 Pearl St. Her
major Is business administration, and she puts her study
to use In the office of a timber rompany, working part
time while attending school. She attended the sorority's
national convention in Virginia in June, traveled for about
six weeks, returning Aug. 1. She likes to howl, and is a
member of an office team just starting, and also likes
bridge. She Is a member of Mortar Board, senior women s
honorary; second vice president of the campus YWCA and
a member of the ASLO Senate.
KAPPA KAFFA GAMMA, above Miss Shi,
lev Kendall, president, is daughter of Mr.
.ind Mrs. Merrill H. Kendall, 2185 Fairmount
Boulevard.. A major in psychology, she has
few hobbies, likes dancing and reading. She
was house treasurer last year, so in spring
was busy making up the hooks for audit.
She spent two wprks in July at sorority's
national convention in Virginia. Later, her
mother was ill and Miss Kendall was her
father's housekeeper; attempted cooking,
she says, for first time.

vorite. She was business manager
of the Emerald last year, and is a
member of Gamma Alpha Chi, ad
vertising honorary, and Phi Sigma
Alpha, political science honorary.

BF.LTA ZETA Miss Joan Jacobs, president, Is daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Guy A. Jacobs, 731 E. 20lh Ave. She is
majoring In elementary education. Miss Jacobs drove with
a party of girls to the national convention of Delta 7.ela
in New Orleans, and returned by train to spend the months
of July and August as companion to Nancy Meier, the 12-year-old
daughter of Frank Meier of Meier and Frank's in
Portland. This was her second summer in this position.
Her hobbles are swimming and reading. She was president
last year of Amphibians, women's swimming honorary, of
which she has been a member for three years. She also was
secretary of Phi Theta Vpsilon, junior womcn'j honorary.
ALPHA XI DELTA Miss Anne Gentle, president, H
daughter of Dr. and Mrs. H, T. Gentle. Majoring in general
social science, Miss Gentle attended rnurses in education
In the summer school at the university, from late June
until mid-August. She spent the balance of the summer
resting at home If you call II resting to keep house and
rare for the lawn as she did In her parents' absence. She
was in charge of the new family home at 3fi! Lariat Drive.
Her hobbies, she says, are sewing and reading and she
likes baseball games. She is a night editor on the Oregana.
