Creswell Meets
Gervais Friday
The 1952 Oregon State B
League baseball championships
will open Friday night at Drain
High School with four teams
Creswell, Gervais, . Malin and
Boardman making bids for the
crown which Drain has won the
last three years. ,
Creswell's Bulldogs and Gervais
will open the semi-finals activi
ties Friday night at 7 p.m., DST.
The second Friday game will be
gin at 9 p.m., DST.
The two losers will play a con
solation game Saturday night, the
first contest of the evening and
the finals will be the second Sat
urday night game.
Coach Homer Parks and his
Creswell Bulldogs entered the
championship playoffs via a mile
long route that included the East
ern Lane County B championship,
the Lane championship (by vir
tue of a victory over Coburg's
Bronos) two sub-district 3-B vic
tories over Philomath and Scio,
and an inter-district victory last
Saturday against Drain's always
potent Warriors. ,
In all probability Creswell's
fortunese at Drain this weekend
will depend on the iron arm of
one Merrill Zilkoski, one of the
secrets of Creswell's success this
year. Zilkoski, has a record this
season of nine wins and one loss,
the loss a one hitter. If Zilkoski
runs into trouble the Bulldogs will
be able to call on Freshman Ron
Dersham or Sam Shoaff.
PENDLETON OPEN
PENDLETON OJ.R) The
three-day $2,000 Pendleton open
golf tournament opens Friday
with a field of 61 golfers, includ
ing 26 professionals, competing for
