McKenzie Friends
Express Thoughts
As A Tribute
VIDA The sympathy of their
friends on the McKenzie is ex
tended to the family of the late
Edward H. Gosser who passed
away May 20, at his home at Nim
rod. Gosser and his family moved
from Eugene to Nimrod in 1943
when he purchased the Stockade
store and cabins, which they oper
ated up until three years ago
when they sold the business and
part of the property to retire in
their new home built on an ad
joining piece of land which they
retained. The beautiful log house
built from trees on the ground
which was cleared for the house,
is one of the show places on the
McKenzie and has been a source
of joy and pride to the family.
The fireplace was faced with
agates and precious stones which
Gosser had collected as a hobby
for many years and included rocks
sent to him by friends from all
over the world.
Before coming to the McKenzie
the Gossers had been In the res
taurant business near the Uni
versity of Oregon Campus where
they were affectionately known as
"Mom and Dad."
Gosser was always interested in
all civic activities for the benefit
of the McKenzie and was gener
ous in his donations to the school
and organizations. He will long
be remembered by those who
knew him because of his kind
ness to everyone. He had been
seriously ill only since the first
of the year and his family had
only known of his fatal illness a
couple of months.
Their daughter Mrs. Paul How
ard and her husband and four
daughters came from their home
in Eastern Oregon and remained
to care for him to the end. She
will remain here with her mother
for awhile longer before return
ing to Eastern Oregon where
Howard will be in charge of a
large stock ranch. They had been
in the hoter business at French
Glen which they sold after her
father's illness was known. Mrs.
Grosser has not made any definite
plans but her friends are glad
that she plans to remain on the
McKenzie for awhile.
