see the MIGs sitting safely on air
fields just across the river and
often watch them training with
aerobatics over Manchuria.
"But we really have trouble
getting them to come up. We've
told officers they were "ready to
join the Texas army in Korea."
Sergeant Carl and Privates First
Class Donald, Anthony and Ber
nard Perricone had been together
since they entered the service in
January, 1951. But a few weeks
ago, when they were stationed at
Fort Benning, Ga., Carl received
his overseas orders. The others
did not,
THEY PROMPTLY appealed to
the Army.
"We don't want any favors,"
they said, "but we want to be to
gether when we go overseas."
But their requests apparently
became sidetracked while going
through channels. At any rate,
noinmg Happened.
The soldiers wrote a letter ex
plaining the situation to their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Per
ricone. They, in turn, notified
their congressmen. About a week
later, the brothers received over
seas orders and a 15-day furlough.
OFFICERS at Fort Lawton said
they would never have realized
the men were quads if it hadn't
been for identification papers. The
brothers differ greatly in appear
ance, and range from five feet,
six incnes to six leet, one Inch in
height.
Born Oct. 31, 1029, the brothers
became known as the "A. B. C.
D." quads because their first-name
initials are of those letters.

in your global U. S. Air Force."

have been on vacation rather than
taking time out to shuffle enlisted

ONE LOCAL man In blue won't
have to worry about stripes any
longer, M-Sgt. Ralph Brandt Is
now a warrant ' officer junior
grade. The orders were effective
April 1. He'll be sworn In Mon
day. The promotion doubtless
means a transfer for him, possibly
overseas. At present he is super
visor of Army and Air Force re
cruiting for the southern half of
Oregon.
