School Board
To Set Election
Springfield's school board will
probably set a date for a proposed
$900,000 bond issue when it meets
Monday at 7:30 p. m'. in the
school administration offices.
The board, at a preliminary
meeting a few weeks ago, un
officially approved the election.
Superintendent E. H. Silke out
lined at that time a program for
the next three years which would
also add $200,000 per year for a
cash levy under the school budget.
The $1,500,000 woulde be used for
necessary school buildings and ex
tra classrooms.
Members have approved setting
up legal machinery, to be okayed
at Monday's meet, for the election.

Christmas Seal
Sales Continue
Christmas is far behind and all
the tinsel packed away, but the
Christmas seal sales campaign
still goes on.
Although revenue from the
seals now amounts to about 10
percent more than received by
the same time . last year, Lane
County Tuberculosis Assn. work
ers believe that many persons
have been waiting until after
Christmas to make their remit
tances. Money can be given area chair
men or mailed to Lane County
TB Assn., Rm. 217, IOOF Build
ing, Eugene.
One area has nearly doubled
its sales over last year. The Coast
Fork District, split into two areas
this year, has reported a 96 per
cent gain. Viola Walkup is chair
man for the Creswell section.
while Mrs. Waldo Taylor leads
the Pleasant Hill part.
