Yoncalla Church
Scene of Wedding
Sunday Afternoon
Miss Mona Maxine Raper,
daughter of Mrs. Eola Raper of
Yoncalla, was married to Allen
Lancaster Jr., son of Mr. and
Mrs. Allen Lancaster of Yon
calla, at three-thirty o'clock
August 14 at the Yoncalla
Church of Christ.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her brother, Vernon
Raper. She wore a white satin
gown with a fitted bodice and
with a peplum in back. The back
of her skirt formed a train. Her
full-length sleeves came to a
point below the wrists. A wreath
ef rosebuds held in place a
linger-tip length veil edged in
lace. She carried a heart
shaped bouquet of white car
nations and white rosebuds. Her
keepsake was a handkerchief
sent from France by her father
during the First World War.
Mrs. Warren Anderson, sister
of the bride, was matron of hon
or. She wore a yellow taffeta
gown, and carried a bouquet of
yellow snapdragons and laven
der sweet peas.
Miss Joanne Brant and Mist
Lila Brogg, both of Yoncalla,
were bridesmaids. Miss Brant
wore a lavender taffeta gown

dene and Marjorie Dow of Suth

wore full-length dresses of pink
organdy.
The bride's mother wore an
afternoon dress of bemberg
sheer of floral design and cor
sage of white carnations. The
bridegroom's mother wore floral
crepe and her corsage also was
of white carnations.

were the ushers.
A bank of fern and fall flow
ers decked the altar and an arch
of ivy and white sweet peas ex
tended from the floral setting.
Si Wise sang "Because" and
Mrs. Charles Henner sang "God
Gave Me You." Mrs. Arne Bjock
was the accompanist.
At a reception which followed
at the Raper home, Mrs. Charles
Henner, sister of the bride
groom, and Mrs. Leroy Hartley
cut and served the wedding
cake. Mrs. Earl Brant and Mrs.
James Smith poured. Autumn
flowers' decorated the home and
two white' candles were on the
bride's table.
After a honeymoon at the
coast and in Los Angeles, the
couple will be at home at Yon
calla, August 21. The bride's
going-away outfit was a two
piece, white, linen dress with
white accessories. She attended
Yoncalla High School and the
bridegroom attended Elkton
High School.

Garden Club Plans
September Show,
Festival of Herbs
Eugene Garden Club is mak
ing plans for the first fall show
ing of flowers, which will be
held this year, September 10 and
11, and will include a festival
of herbs. The horticultural side
of the flower show will be
stressed, according to Mrs. V. C.
Morgan, general chairman, who
was appointed by Mrs. C. F.
Gregg, president of the club. A
showing of fuchsias, begonias,
and other fall flowers Is planned.
There is to be a special showing
of some out-of-the-ordinary dah
lias, as well as the English, or
early flowering type of chrysan
themums. The show will be held
in the clubhouse, . 1645 High
Street. . .
Mrs. Ralph Buok, chairman of
the herb group will be In charge
of the herbs. Cooked food, fla
vored with herbs, herbs growing
in pots, catnip mice and gold
fish, herb bouquets, vinegars, sa
chets and lavender in bulk, will
all be offered for sale. Herb tea
will be served with cookies and
potpourri jars of fragrance will
be included. Mrs. Buck will be
assisted by Mrs. L. L. Erdmann,
former chairman, and originator
