COTTAGE GROVE The
strict committee was authorized
at the special city council meeting
Tuesday to purchase a new street
weeper. Negotiations will begin
Immediately to make the best pos
sible bargain for the city.
A report on the new wiring and
conduit for the Main Street light
to, will be made at the Nov. 1
council meeting. The laying of
the conduit has been completed
and lights were turned on several
dan ago. Following a testing
period and as soon as the city en
gineer if convinced that the wir
ing If satisfactory, the sidewalks
will be repaired from the tearing
up incidental to construction.
The Pass Creek Paving Co. is
now finishing up the patching of
oiled streets on the west side of
town, and, weather permitting,
will start the first of next week to
patch the Main Street breaks
oaused by the laying of the new
conduit.
As a result of Tuesday's council
. meeting, an application is being
made to the state highway depart
ment for a portion of the moYiey
alloted to cities for the repair of
streets used by trucks and heavy
traffic.

Lane Grange
THURSTON : Grange decided
to change the annual grange dues
of the local order to $3, pending
the final vote on the issue, which
will be taken at the Nov. S meet
ing. The change was necessitated
by a raise in the state grange
dues.
A community party, sponsored
by the grange, was set for Friday
evening, Oct. 22,, 8 p.m. Florence
Troy and Flossie Gray were ap
pointed to make arrangements.

nomics Club chairman, .- an
nounced a second meeting, for
the fabric painting class, for
Thursday, Oct. 21 all day at the
grange hall, beginning at 10 a.m.
