The eastern part of the county
had but one fire while Western
Lane' had six. The total for the
state was 89.
Of Lane's six blazes, one was
caused by railroads, one by log
ging, one by slash burning, one
by incendiarism, and two by mis
cellaneous causes.
Total fires for the same period
in the county last year was 7.
Fires for the season so far num
ber 46, with 524 acres burned.

County CROP Meeting
Postponed One Week
A meeting called for Thursday
evening in the library of the Com
munity Center to organize the
Christian Rural Overseas Program
in Lane County has been post
poned for one week. It will be at
8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 at the
same place.
Ministers of the county and
representatives of granges will
cooperate In an effort to ship one
carload of fcxjd stuffs from Lane
County to hungry people overseas.

MAN FOUND GUILTY
A municipal court Jury Tuesdav
night returned a verdict of guilty
in the case of Carl Morgan, 2100
Eleventh Ave. W., and Judge John
L. Barber, Jr., set Wednesday at
7:30 p.m. as the time for sentenc
ing. Morgan was arrested Aug. 22
and charged with driving under
the influence of intoxicating
liquor.
