especially good. Slides taken of
roses in the gardens of Mr. War
ren, Mr. Jorgensen, Charles An
dreason and Dr. A. H. Norton
were also shown. '

Program Set By

An adult education program
snonsored by the Ladies Auxiliary
of Springfield Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 3965 will Be opened
Thursday evening when Marvin
Sanders, Springfield city attorney,
will speak on Juvenile De
linquency. The meeting is at eight
o'clock at the VFW building on
East Main Street and is open to
the public. It is also the regular
meeting of the VFW and auxiliary
and members of both are urged
to attend.
Juvenile delinquency was chosen
as the topic for this meetnig since
this month has been designated as
National Youth Month. It is the
first of a series of special programs
planned as a part of the adult edu
cation program of the auxiliary.
Mrs. Orville Rhoades, Mrs. E. W.
Balderee and Mrs. Charles Inger-
soll comprise the committee on
adult education for the group.

HONORED AT SHOWER
VENETA Mrs. Walter Mullen
was honor guest at a pink and
blue shower Wednesday afternoon
at the home of Mrs. Ralph John
son, with Mrs. Donald Johnson
and Mrs. Duane Brooks as co
hostesses. The gifts were placed
on a table in front of the fireplace
which was decorated with blue
and white streamers and bows.
A bouquet of pink and white
gladiolus decorated the mantel.

Molasses Apple Cottage Pudding
2 tablespoons butler
2 tart apples
6 tablespoons New Orleans
molasses
'A cup shortening
23 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
114 teaspoons baking powder
V teaspoon salt
Vi cup milk
Vs teaspoon vanilla extract
Melt butter; place In 6 greased
custard cups, dividing butter
equally. Pare apples: core; chop
tine. Divide evenly In the cups;
add 1 tablespoon molasses to each.
Cream together shortening and
sugar; add egg; beat well. Sift to
gether flour, baking powder ana
salt; add alternately with milk to
creamed mixture. Add vanilla ex
tract; mix well. Pour over apple
mixture, filling cups 'A full. Bake
In moderate oven, 350 degrees F
45-50 minutes. Turn upside down
on serving dish. Serve immediate
ly with any preferred sauce, or
whipped cream. Serves 6.
