A nuptial mass at nine o'clock
Tuesday morning married Miss
Genevieve Ness of Eugene to
Michael O. Lydon of Roseburg.
St. Mary's Catholic Church was
decorated with baskets of
bronze - hued chrysanthemums,
and altar bouquets also were of
gold and bronze. Talisman roses
and smaller chrysanthemums
were placed on the Virgin's alt
ar. The Very Rev. Francis P.
Leipzig officiated. The bride is
the daughter of Mrs. T. H. Ness
and the late Mr. Ness.
Mrs. Dale Cooley played organ
music, and an "Ave Maria" was
sung by Mr. Cooley.
A floor-length wedding gown
of Ivory faille was worn by the
bride, who was escorted by her
brother-in-law, A. L. Hawn. It
had yoke of net, with bertha of
self material following the out
line of the sweetheart neckline.
The bodice was fitted, with
short sleeves, and she wore
matching mitts. Her illusion veil

former Dorothy Chapman of
Eugene and Coos Bay). She
wore mitts to match her gown.
She carried a cascade bouquet
of chrysanthemums in autumn
shades, and the flowers were
fashioned with gold cord into a
modified Juliet cap.
J. J. Lydon, brother of the
bridegroom, was his best man,
and ushers were Richard J.
Maxwell and John K. Ness, bro
ther of the bride.
Friends were received at the
Hawn residence following the

Engagement of Miss Rebecca
Jeanne Jefferis to Robert Guy
Ford, both graduates of Eugene
High School, was made known
recently in Portland at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wood,
Garden Home. Guests at the
announcement party were mem
bers of Miss Jefferis June 1948
graduating class in nursing at
the University of Oregon Med
ical School.
Miss Jefferis is the daughtter
of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph X. Jef
feris, Eugene and Mr. Ford is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
E. Ford, who have moved from
Eugene to Portland. He is a
student in the School of Arch
itecture, University of Oregon.
The wedding will be in early
November.
The engagement of Miss Peggy
Lee Dye of Reedsport to Gerald
William Ulett of Coquille was
announced recently at the Delta
Gamma sorority house on the
campus. Miss Dye, a junior at the
University, is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John A. Dye of
Reedsport, and Mr. Ulett is the
son of Mrs. Gertrude Ulett of
Coquile. He is a sophomore in
engineering at Oregon State
College. They plan to be married
next summer at Reedsport.
A seashore theme was carried
out in table decorations at the
fireside gathering which revealed
the news. A hand-tied net, Jap
anese glass floats, sea shells and
candelabra made from driftwood
were used. Names of the couple
appeared on sea-shell place
cards. White and purple match
cases, in colors of Phi Gamma
Delta, Mr. Ulett's fraternity,
were favors.
Mothers of both young people
attended the party.
Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Putman
announce the engagement of
their daughter, Pauline, to Ralph
F. Cater, son of Mr. and Mrs.
H. F. Cater, Garden City, L.I.,
N. Y. Miss Putman is a grad
uate of Oregon State College.
She has taught the past two
years at McKenzie High School
and will teach at Yoncalla High
School this year. Mr. Cater serv
ed with the United States Ma
rines for three years and will be
a junior at Oregon State College
this fall.
The wedding is planned for
next summer.
Announcement has been made
of the engagement of Miss Col
leen Clark, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. A. C. Freeman of Spring
fild, to Dale Erickson. Mr. Erlck
son's parents are Mr. and Mrs.
L. D. Erickson of Eugene. Miss
Clark is a student at Springfield
High School. No date has been
set for the wedding.

Junction, Colo. Miss Jackson is

the annual fall membership tea,

Wedding Costume
Is Sewn By Bride
Wearing a wedding gown of
white satin and lace-edged veil,
both of which she had made her
self, Miss Juanita Shirley Beam
er, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Glenn Beamer, became the bride
of William Kenneth Strong of
Myrtle Point Sunday, September
5, at First Baptist Church, Eu
gene. The three o'clock ceremony
was performed by Dr. E. W.
Warrington, professor of religion,
Oregon State College.
The altar was decorated with
candelabra and baskets of white
asters and gladiolus in shades of
pink. Mr. Beamer escorted his
daughter to the altar.
The bridal dress was made
with wide bertha collar and lace
yoke and her fingertip length
veil fell from a white crown' of
stephanotis. "Something old" was
her mother's cameo locket, which
she wore, and "something blue"
was a handkerchief edged in blue.
The wedding flowers were gar
denias and stephanotis arranged
on a white Bible.
Mrs. Dale Beamer, gowned in
pale blue and carrying a bouquet
of rubrum lilies, was matron of
honor. Best man was Philip Linn
of Myrtle Point and the ushers
were Dale Beamer and Clifford
Chase. Mrs. Howard McBeth
played the wedding music, in
cluding the Wedding March from
Lohengrin, and the accompani
ments for the Misses Jeann and
Perfect Love" and "Because."
The refreshment table at the
reception which followed in the
chapel of the church was deco
rated with a bowl of pink and
white asters. Mrs. William John
son cut the cake and Mrs. Henry
Schnorenberg presided at the
punch bowl. They were assisted
by Mrs. John Taylor, Mrs. Har
old Johnston, Miss Idella Beamer
and Miss Gayle Williams. Miss
Lois Adkins, cousin of the bride,
was in charge of the guest book.
The bride's going away cos
tume was a grey coat over a
fuchsia dress. Her accessories
of the bride's mother, Mrs. Nell
Deiss presided at the punch bowl
and Mrs. Wilfred Kisinger cut
the cake. Mrs. Lawrence Ger
spach presided at the coffee urn.
